Was wondering if a 34 ford coupe body would fit on a 32 ford ch***is? I got a perfect ch***is all set up underneath my roadster and was looking for a duece body but no such luck. But i got a good lead on a 34 5 window project. Just curious if it has ever been done. And if so, was it a close fit?
Im sure I remember seeing a pic of it done before.. But the biggest problem would be wheelbase and firewall position. If you set the rear wheelwell so it is centrered on the wheel, the 3" longer wheelbase of the 34 will mean your firewall will be at least that much forward, and you will need a hefty cut out to get everything to fit. The 34 body is also partly channelled over its frame, and this will no doubt not fit well onto a 32 ch***is. I will look oddly 'stumpy' in the front end I would say..
If you can score a '34 coupe body you should be able to use it as trading stock to get you into the deuce you really want. I think you'd be taking quite few steps backwards trying to get the '34 to fit the '32 ch***is. What's wrong with a model A roadster on a deuce ch***is???? That'd make me pretty happy
As mentioned earlier the 34 Ch***is is longer,,I have seen a 32 roadster channeled down over 34 rails in the past. I wasn't crazy about the look. This was Rusty Streamliners 32 on 34 rails,,sorry it's the only photo I have.HRP
Do a search for Ricky Bobby's 33 5 window...It was channeled over a 32 frame. I really like it, but my tastes differ from most... I agree that the 33-4 coupe body should be decent trading stock towards a deuce body. I have a rough 32 5w that I "might" would trade on a decent 33-4 coupe... Sam
Here's some build pics of ricky bobby's 33 5wd. http://rickybobbysrodshop.com/rods/33-ford-coupe/ There are pieces of 32 rails in the ch***is but there's no way in hell you can say that car is on a 32 frame or 32 rolling ch***is. The front is swept to match the 33 hood and there's a mega dip front cross member to get the ride height back. There's a huge step up in the back to get the car low and back to level. The frame is stretched and the front crossmember is moved forward making the WB more than 112".
Unless I am reading this wrong, he wants to go the other way - 33/34 body on 32 ch***is. A model a on 34 rails looks *****en to me and this is why everyone is different
You didn't say if the 34 5/w project body comes with a 34 frame? If it does, the 34 body should be built on the 34 frame-much easier, especially if you or a future buyer wishes to fit full fenders, boards... What were/are your plans for your current roadster body when/if you find a 32 body? If you really want to build the 34 coupe, buy it and simply look for a 34 frame (if it doesn't have one) and build it. Maybe sell off your roadster to fund the build. It would be an easy decision for me (see avatar). You'll have to decide what you ultimately want to end up with.
I appreciate that link, had no idea that it existed or that he even had a website. I met Ricky at the Hot Rod reunion this year and he told me that the car was built on a JW rods perimeter frame. Just going by what he told me, in person... Sam
Well first are we talking about the same car? "It's green and named "the keeper"? Next, Does it look like a 32 frame to you in that link? Maybe I'm all ****ed up this morning, I've not had the pleasure of speaking with the man.
Why so hostile? Just repeating what the builder told me... I can't see the pics too well. I get an invalid URL message when I try to enlarge them. But from what I see, yes it is a '32 frame. I can clearly see the reveal in the side. Yes, it has been kicked up in the rear, yes the front rails have been swept up, yes the front crossmember has been moved, etc. But from what I see, the center of the frame is unchanged, and it also looks like it still has the JW installed tube center x member system...
