Who's going to Detroit Autorama 2014?

This will be our 1st trip to Detroit Autorama. We'll be downstairs with Lucky Strike....Any advise on what hotel to stay at? Thanks...

I'll be there,...... But you will never see me....... I'll try to get a few pictures of your car for you......

 

I'll be there with 2 other guys from Indy

 

As for the hotel, you can stay at greektown casino.
Then you can ride the people mover(elevated rail) back and forth,and stay out of the weather.
I don't have any idea on the cost of the rooms.

FYI- The old Ponchatrain, which is right across the street from Cobo Hall, has just been re-opened as a Crowne Plaza (Holiday Inn hotel, link: http://www.ihg.com/crowneplaza/hotels/us/en/detroit/dttnd/hoteldetail) .

Other options within walking distance are the Marriott Courtyard, Marriott RenCen, Book Cadillac, Holiday Inn Express, etc etc.

Our usual group from Rochester will be there...but don't depend on the people mover..if you check on the internet because of detroits financial woes they say the people mover may not be running.(I hope not ..i like it and its cheap transportation)

The Holiday Inn Express is the place to stay. It's cheap, within walking distance and the hotel bar is filled with the coolest car guys anywhere.

Great! Hopefully the weather will be a little better than we saw at the Hot Rod of the Year in Indy this year!! At least we'll be dry!

 

REALLY!..... Poverty doesn't cause crime, crime causes poverty.

 

Taken a different car for 8 yrs & stay at Renaissance Center "Marriott".

Ride the people mover to stay out of weather, besides staying athe the GM headquarters to see all the new Chevys the basment has McDonalds, Burger King, Subway & Chinese food.

Looking forward to all the cool ba*****t cars, I do take a walk thru fussy upstairs cars each morning on my way to the ba*****t.

Will bring my 61 Corvette!

 

Alright. Well have fun in Wisconsin.

I'll be checking out some *****ing hotrods in the ba*****t with the other guys who aren't irrationally fearing for their life.

 

Thats right AJ..Ill see you there!!......while one always has to pay attention when in the big city(Not just Detroit)..... If people live in fear ... they are missing out on a lot of things in this world.

I talked to Dennis this afternoon, we're all set to show the Diamond T and Tini-Home camper downstairs. Gonna do a "traditional" campground display, we're EXCITED! My wife and I will be there all weekend!

 

I'll be there in the Wizards Products booth . . . upstairs . . . but usually get some time to venture downstairs with the cool kids a couple times during the weekend.

 

Wow - look forward to seeing the display.

Detroit is not a friendly city at least in the police dept
I showed up at appointed time and door was locked
good news is that I only got one parking ticket

Here's the Tini-Home trailer we're bringing, just imagine it hitched to the big red Diamond T instead of the wagon. We'll be along a wall in the ba*****t, I'm not sure just where, but we're excited. My buddy Crafty B will have his '32 upstairs with high-rollers.

 

Going again this year. I rode that people mover last year but you have to think about an elevated train which gets very very little maintanence......

We were showing a few hot rods. I went upstairs and there was some guy in cammo signing autographs with a line about a mile long.....Took a look at the bling and went back downstairs..

There are two distinctively different car shows going on.

Did have a little chat with Linda Vaughn tho, that was nice.

 

The E.L.T.A. will be back downstairs again for 2014 with another 6 new rides.....should be another fine time in the Motor City.
