;) Naturally a little 4BT would make that COE fly. Pity they are so hard to locate here.

    Bill,
Are you still running the truck on LPG ?
If so is it worth the extra work involved as I might think to put it on mine.

If you are starting from scratch and you need to buy a Carby Fuel Tank ,Fuel pump then you could go to LPG and buy a Gas Mixer, Gas (LPG) Tank and a Gas Convertor then you have most of the basic items covered, yes there are a couple of hoses and safety valves , if you shop around you can buy these items for the same as for a Fuel Tank.
To me the costs are the same

  12. Hi Guys
You wanna know what happened over my weekend !!
    Part 1
I drove the COE to the car show about 1/2
hour away at the local Naval Base, I was waiting in line with all the other
entrants when the engine stopped, it was getting a bit hot but not boiling,
it would not start again so one of the organisers called over a few of the
Naval Cadets and in no time they were pushing my 2.5 Ton Truck into the
    show.
The COE did receive a lot of favourable comments and had a lot of photo’s taken by the public
After the show was over I tried to start the COE but it wasn't going to
start and I had some of the best mechanics in the district looking it over as they were entrants in the show.
so one of them asked me turn it over while having the distributor cap of,
Hmm he said, it seems the rotor isn't turning so we extracted the
distributor to find 3 teeth missing of the distributor gear and it turns out
that the Oil Pump had seized , just great, so call a tilt tray truck and
take it home, another $120 down the drain !!! My son did warn me that the
Engine had had a hard life, so we have agreed it is his fault (grin)

    Part 2
Well amazing what a new day can bring, this morning I did a lot of thinking about the oil pump problems, first I rang my mate Ray to get his opinion I fitted the Mallory Distributor minus the gear and tried to turn the Oil Pump, it turned without any problem at all, so either expert mechanic didn’t try hard enough yesterday to turn the Rotor*****on or I don’t know ??, so I then fitted the factory Ford Distributor and with a bit of timing adjustment it fired up, I so ran it for about 15 minutes , oil pressure was still about 80 psi and ran it at idle and then at about 3,000 revs for a minute or so, not a single problem or noise.
So I rang Ray again and told him the results, we both agreed that it would be a good idea to drop the pan find the missing gear chunks and anything else that might be down there, Ray wants me to bring the Oil pan without cleaning it to him, when it is of and if everything is ok, I will then buy a high volume Oil Pump and fit that.
So I am a bit happier now.

    Seeya

Very common problem is that valve seals will get hard and brittle and break off only to find their way to the pump . What probably happened is while turning the pump you dislodged it and all is well until the next chunk goes in .

Pull the pan and either clean or replace the pickup tube . Check your seals and replace as needed because this will just happen again.

Bill, since you are upside-down under, don't all the parts make their way to the top of the engine...?

  25. I'm trying to figure out exactly what this is. 37-38 Chevrolet front sheet metal, military blackout lights, tandem?, cab look like later commercial stuff, doesn't all make sense to me.
smack1984, did you get any info from the owner?

Cab looks to be a Crane Carrier, being as it's a 6x6, I bet it was a truck mounted crane at one time.-MIKE
