    The first minivan??

What is it? Was it ever in production, or just a show car?

It came from the factory that way as a "Monterey" . Very rare car to-day.

As the story goes, I remember Mercury using a vinyl roof covers in 1951, but I'm not sure
they were using " Monterey" as a model name at that time.

As I remember, it wasn't exactly vinyl, but was convertible top cloth. The 51 Ford Crestliner had the same thing.

    Great Willys Xmas Tree shots!
My Dad had one for years. There wasn't much room for chains on the rear tires.

  21. Why do you think that? It isn't the first time I've seen the picture, seems it was in LIFE or POST or another magazine, back in the day.

I'd say it was a flash bulb picture. Makes the foreground look different than the back.

although it isn't, this could have been me back in the day. I've worked on bugeyed sprites, I wore those white levi's, and my then GF rocked the same style as the girl pictured. Have you ever wondered what happened or where an old GF is ? You can't do a simple internet search, mainly because they change there last name (sometimes often) then again maybe they don't wanna be found...

I re-met mine at a reunion a few years ago, and thought, "Thank God!" :D

I had a Sprite autocross car.

  28. In reference to the bus with the strollers on the front: "OK ladies, be sure the little tykes ares all strapped in securely."

Please note; I tried to single out the one picture but the whole set kept coming up so I opted to go without the pic.

Jayne Mansfield with her daughter, Mariska Hargitay. Yes, THAT Mariska,

Long Binh, VietNam. 1970. That's me on the right!

Note behind me the solar-heated water tank for the shower room. We were ahead of our time! :D
