Just wondering who else has nice original or "fixed-up" cars that haven't been fully built or restored but instead maintained and driven.

Not necessarily talking about "survivor" or "barn find" type cars either.

    Who has 'em?

  4. Earlier this year I got a one owner '53 Desoto 2 door, Hemi' & 3sp OD. It had a re-paint in the '70's and some interior work then. Good motor runs great, Still working out some tran's problems.

  5. You mean like my 39 that has only had the front fenders repainted once back in the 70's? I drove it until they salted the roads this fall.

Mine. It's a lot of fun, even though it only wants to go 40 mph. Still all the original paint, but someone brushed on the green to two-tone it sometime before 1967, when it came into my family.

My '47 Streamliner came to Sweden from Colorado in 2008. I got insurance papers and repair bills back from '63, the same owner the whole time. I replaced the original motor some weeks ago, it ran fine but so did the oil... thru the engine. I found it much cheaper to buy a good working straight 8 instead of repairing the flat six.

  9. This is mine. Was the only car we had (I have a bike) for the summer. Wife drives it, daughter drives it, and it gets out daily. Every day. Reliable as gravity. Never a stumble. Proud to say it is nearly 100% stock, save for the alternator conversion, and modern radio (in glovebox), the last a sop to the wife.

You just have to drive 'em. That's what they like.

P.S. The blue box on the windshield?? I-Pass. The car gets driven, folks.

Man, all these cars that are under 50,000 miles and over 50 years old. Unbelievable.

Another old survivor I used to own. 1937 Dodge D5 with one very old repaint, zero rot, almost perfect original interior, 70k mile original drivetrain that ran like a sewing machine.

I would love to find a 39 Trans local! I have been looking for a few months, but no luck. Tons of T5's, which crossed my mind...

This is a neat thread - would like to see it really take off.

This is a '49 IHC KB-2 that I dragged out of the woods a few years ago. Here it is the day I brought it home:

And here it is some months later in running/driving condition:

I ended up swapping both axles, all 4 springs and the engine to get it on the road. It sat in the woods for 48 years. I did manage to get the original engine un-stuck, but never attempted to run it. Woulda ruined it I figure. I got lucky and located another rolling chassis (minus the body) that had good running gear on it. The only "new" parts I used were consumables like brake parts, clutch disc, etc. It was very neat to drive this truck down the road. Its in Canada now.
