    I really like the one above, but to me, a T-bucket is a 23 style fiberglass body, with the front axle center line forward of the radiator, and a short wheelbase. I'd call that a T roadster pickup.

    Not that I don't like T-buckets, but I have a 26 roadster that gets referred to as a T-bucket and that just seems like the wrong terminology.

    I agree with allot of what Squablow just wrote, but do take exception to the glass '23 type body. The first T-Buckets were '17-'22 type touring front halfs. I believe that a '26-'27 with a short bed is also welcome in the T-Bucket category too. About the time the bed starts getting near stock length, you are back into roadster pickup territory. The one thing this particular car lacks to be a T-Bucket is a channel... That, the open engine compartment and the axle out in front of the grill shell are what separates T-Bucket and roadster pickup.

    I love definitions, according to person this car would qualify because the axle is hung on a suicide perch, another,a Z'd frame and just a tank, but still no channel, but it has the Kool look., [​IMG]

    Just picked this up. Couldn't resist the hemi. Believe build around 1976. Don't you just love the "induction system". Par for the times.

  7. That would make for another thread of how to give a T a rebirth much like Chip is doing with his T. What are your plans for it as it looks like a good start with excellent potential. Can you take a close up photo of the intake please and explain just what it is ?

    Sitting there with the carb in plan view. Almost a "I don't give a damn" attitude. If you decide to get rid of that, "induction system":D, please post it here first. While I would have no use for it, it is interesting in a "what were we thinking" sort of way.

    I was talking with a friend the other night and we thought it would be fun to start collecting some of the automotive crap, we used to think was cool. That piece would be a center piece in the collection.

    The fake induction will soon be replaced (wall hanger) with a scoop, but the hemi will stay. Were hemis very common in t buckets? Though outdated, the rest of car will mostly stay as is. if all old builds were updated to current trends cars would get pretty boring.

    Early on it seems Hemis weren't uncommon say in the early sixties, but by the mid seventies when your car seems to date from, no, not that common.

    Funny, earlier today when you first posted I was thinking the same thing. Not EVERY CAR need to be updated or backdated, some should just stay as they are. Your car would be great candidate for that, as it's a pretty well preserved time capsule as it sits. I think seventies stuff is around the corner as the "next big thing".

    Look like 235/75R15's. That's what I run and those look pretty close, if not the same. I like mine. They're just wide enough for "the look", yet not HUGE like the ones found on "Fad T's".

    Sorry, I meant it is not the Ryan car. I saw a fairly recent shot of his car and it is pretty much complete as it was in the 60's. He may even own it, not sure though.

  17. Thanks Fred, I'm looking at diameter more than width and they seem alot taller that 235/75 15, I thought they looked more of a 16.

    29 inches on 15" rim. If those are like mine. I like them.

  19. Yea they just seem to "fit". I keep looking at mine and think they're too small, should be taller and they're 235/75x15

    Yea, must be the camera angle. Mine look small in this photo, but in real life, I sometimes used to think they were too big.

    Where as my Americans and Hurst slicks look just about right.


    I think the trick is to stick with a rear tire in the 28"-30" range. The other half of that is rim width. A 235/75-15 is about 28 1/2" tall, as long as it's mounted on a wheel that is about 6" or so wide. As the rim width goes wider, more of the tire's height is taken up in the distance it has to span the rim, so it gets shorter. The wider the tire, the wider the rim. But, the other caution with that for the "traditional" car is look at what wheel widths were popular in the era you are shooting for. In the early sixties, when I am trying to place my car, 8 1/2" was as wide as it got on 15" wheels. My slicks are an 8 1/2 wide recapped slick on a 235/75-15 casing, so it all works fine.

    Yup. And a 8.90X16 dirt track tire, so they are about 32" tall. A bit much for the back of my car, although they would almost be appropriate for a fifties built car.

    Here is a pic of my Bucket from 1967. 16" Magnesium 5 spokes with slicks.

    Unfortunately, the builder "upgraded" to 13" wide steamrollers around 70/71.... And that's what's on the car now.

  26. The first piece of crap that you need to gather up is the JC Whitney catalog and then start finding those parts on eBay and swap meets!

    It's going to be a lot of fun to see what you end up finding!

    J.C. Whitney isn't what it used to be. Ebay and swap meets are the obvious choices. We had a feeling some of the older guys, that know their stuff, will want a fortune for this shit.

  29. Precisely what I've experienced!

    I've driven mine several hundred miles in one day just to drag it at Mokan!

    I was exposed to several thunderstorms going to Mokan as well as enjoying a hundred mile run in 3 inches of fresh snow in Wisconsin!

    I enjoyed my roadsters more than any motorcycle I've owned.
