Thanks for your words guys,i appreciate it!

I had a day off from the work, because its our independence day.Instead of heavy drinking i continued with my build.
This is the last lapwelded patch on the body.I didnt have access to work with it earlier, because the distributor was on the way.

Done, now the holes are buttwelded and i welded other holes too on the firewall.
That should give a smoother look for the firewall.

I also made some progress with the floor finishing job,but its the most boring part to do and i am pretty sure that its more boring to see than those pics above. So i am not going to post that boring stuff here.
There isnt much body work left before the body is ready for the sandblasting,so i can see the light at the end of the tunnel...Barely:D

    Thanks guys!
    Well,we finns have a reputation as a heavy drinkers.Thats true,we drink a lot.
A beer now and then is fine, but i dont drink much at these days.
It was fun when i was younger, but 5 days working and 2 days toxicated its not worth it.
I think thats pretty meaningless way to live, building stuff is more fun than drinking it:D

  10. Words to live by for sure ! 30 years ago I probably would not have the same opinion . Funny what time does to a mans thinking !!

I've got done something, but nothing worth to post..
Well, looks like my christmas present came right on time again.I bought a Centech wiring harness and at today the mailman delivered a box to my home that had this pile of wiring inside:

I guess its too early to buy stuff like this, but i needed that fuse panel,so i can make a mounting bracket for it.
I havent figured it out yet where to put it.I like that its not visible, but it must have easy access for fuses..

Any kind of luck, you will never have to touch the fuses again.....after you get everything working.

I don't think it's too early. Nothing like having it in front of you to know exactly where you're headed. Good luck with that stuff.

    Thanks fellows!
Well,i thought that bracket could be good to have done before sandblasting.
That harness kit looks pretty clear, the instructions are good and every wire is marked what it should stand for. So,it is possible that a guy like me,who doesnt know a shit about electrics can wire his project..
I am not sure is it possible with the body bracing, but i try to fit the dash on the body.Maybe that will give me some kind of direction for the bracket location.
    And merry christmas everyone!

  16. It´s never too early to by parts for a build.I think it´s better have it laying on the shelf when it´s needed instead of ordering it and go waiting to get it delivered. For your info there´s a guy here in Sweden making really nice and affordable harnesses as well. I have used them in two of my builds and will use them again. You´re doing great on this build...keep it up
    Kenneth.

    Thanks!
You are right about filling the shelfs with parts. It takes some time to get parts here,so i have to make plans what to need in next phase.Usually i just buy what i need next, not the stuff i need last.
I keep that harness thing in my mind, when i need the wiring harness next time.
    Thanks for the info!

Well,i promised that i dont bore people with pics of the boring stuff. But i guess these are a kind of worth to post:

I got the rear inner fender fixed and the bottom of the body bracing(which i thought was solid...right)
And whats so special in pics like that?
Yes,i know they doesnt look like anything special, but those were the last rust patches on the body,so its a big milestone in this project.
Using words should have are pretty useless words in any sentence, but i guess i should have replaced the body brace i thought was ok.
But i am not going to do it at this point..Like the old finnish saying goes:

"Its too late to fart, when you've already soiled yourself":D

    Merry christmas everyone!

  19. Congratulations on the rust repair milestone Antti . Now onto the bodywork . Getting those panels nice and straight . New year coming , more work coming ! LOL ! Andy..

  20. Thank for sharing your projekt, I'm follow it, and I think U do a great, awesome job.

    Thanks guys!
The bodywork could be cool, but i've planned that i work with the frame first.
I have to make motormounts, rear shock mounts etc. So,i got work to do before the cool stuff.
I had to make mounting for the fusepanel,so this is what i got done:

This is the Centech fusepanel. Its really compact and i think it looks like a bit better than a chunk of plastic with fuses and relays.
Well, that looks like too "street roddish" to my eyes,so i have to figure out where to put it out of the sight.

Then i remembered the vintage cashbox, made by Kaso oy in Helsinki.
Its rediculously small as a cashbox and the lock is busted too.So its pretty useless for that purpose.

I guess we have a winner in this hide your fusepanel competition.
Fits like a glove,so its time to put a box in the box:D

I welded a bung on the spot were the lock was and made a handle from stainless steel.I had to modify the latch catch too. Then i mounted it on the firewall by floating style,so there is room for the insulation and panel behind the box.

I havent drill any holes yet for the wiring, because i dont know what kind of grommets to use.I guess i'll ask that from a friend of mine who knows the electric stuff better than i do.

  22. I like that little cash box, great idea. I'm going to look around for something similar. Is that mounting position going to be far enough away from your pedals and feet? Looks like it's right behind the brake pedal.

That is funny... and wise. :D

    Thanks,Andrew!
Those pics were shot from a bad angle,so the box looks like bigger than it is and the position looks like strange too.I shot a pic from better angle, just to show how it looks like:

The lower notch on the hole is for brake pedal and the upper is for steering column,so i think that the box is on the right spot.
I could move it more left, but then the lid wont open properly because then it will hit the emergency brake handle.
I am not sure about the age of that box,but i googled that companys history. They started to make safes, cash boxes etc.at 1945.
My wild guess is thats from the 60's..maybe.
I am sure that you'll find something like that from there too.

i love the threads that shows the home made tools and have the before and after pics,
it gives inspiration and ideas how to work on your own project.
not so impressed with threads that goes on like i took my car to xx and he fixed xx and so on ., in my opinion customs are to be build by the owner. otherwise you are not building a car you are buying one , and anyone with the meas to do so can do it .

but to build and fabricate all your self thats when you really create something, and can be proud of it. keep up the good work and keep inspiring all of us.

Great idea with the cash box ! I'll have the same fuse box in my car (got the full harness just waiting for my lazy/busy butt to install it , lol) . I'll probably tuck mine over on the driver's side kick panel under the dash , like we did for Legend544's shoebox .

Great progress on your shoe , BTW :)

    Thanks for your words!

I think pretty much same way than you do,but i have to say that i cant do everything.Painting is one thing and upholstery work is another.I just cant sew a shit or paint,so at some point i have to hire pros to work with those phases. But doing so much by yourself you can, will save money.:D

    Thanks!
I've planning to fab somekind of wire "block" or wire "nozzle" on the box to route the wires out,so it doesnt look like someone have thrown a plate full of spaghetti bolognese on the firewall. So,the fuse box is not completely done yet.

Nothing really special going on in this build, but something.
I made new rear quarter braces. The drivers side brace was really bended POS and the passengers side was..Well not mint, but ok.I decided to make a pair instead of one.The OEM one is also in this pic,i guess they are close enought.

  28. Nice work! I made one of those waaay back in my build, then I made new trunk floors... the braces aren't even close. I'll be making more soon. I'm not too smart

Yours look good. Did you hammer the beads in or roll them? I see a T dolly in the shot.

    Thanks!
Yeah,i rolled the beads.First the longer one and then i run so much the shorter bead i could.
I made the T-dolly to make the "crossroad" section.A chisel and hammer were good tools too with that one.
