I am just old enough to remember a few parts departments that looked like those,we had one that was still old school without computers up to about 8 years ago. I wish now that I would have supported them more but as when the big box part stores moved in that were cheaper I went to them, that old part store cheated me on a the core charge for some hard to find brake shoes so I was kind of pissed at them and avoided them for about 15 years.

The photo's of the parts department are kind of a thing of the past.

Most dealerships today no longer want to carry a $100,000 dollars of parts in inventory.

No matter what part I need the guy say's we can have it within a few day's

The times have changed and sometimes it not for the better.

Has anyone else noticed that most of the people in these great pictures are not over weight? I grew up in the late fifties, early sixties and I was the fat kid in school. Today I have lots of friends. LOL

    Happy dog!

I wonder if dogs got half the joy out of riding on a horse drawn cart vs. a truck?

Looks like some creative Photoshop work went into this one. Some of the perspective (particularly on the Country Squire in the window) and shadows is a bit off and the font on the neon is too modern, I think. Most obvious is that those wire wheels were not available on Thunderbirds until '62!

I think RPM Ron has passed out on his keyboard. Either cardiac arrest or just drunk.

Now, lemme see if I can count the "d"s........

  18. Not really true. Perhaps so if you live in urban areas but, there are plenty of places still like this in small town America. Maybe you are living in the wrong place if that life style appeals to you.

Peoria (Illinois) drag strip in 1958. The chopped '34 with the '40 hood held the track record. It was owned and driven by one of our local "rodfathers" who recently turned 80. And he's still active in the hot rod scene today.

Does anyone have anymore pictures of the Convair plant in Fort Worth? My aunt "Bis" worked there from the war until 1977. I think she was the "print girl". Thanks

This car is a hoot! Many places didn't allow pickup bods on oval track racers. A rare photo, me thinks. Gary
