Nobody asked for my opinion, but damn, I like that rig! (Sorry, the original, but lowered one, not the shortened version)

 

I have a crazy idea going throw my head. My idea is taking a 57 linc 2 door hardtop and making it into flo from the movie cars. Or taking something else.

OK, I know that this is a little off the wall, but I think it could make a neat
daily driver...with the help of some color, wheels & stance. So anything you think would work, go for it. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

 

I do like the dark gray color. But as far as wheels... I do not know...

 

Thanx for the renderings....hate to ask,but how about showing one with a lower stance, if it's not too much trouble.

 

I like "off-the wall" challenges! This was one of those cars that looks like it was designed by a committee: nothing quite lines up. The Lancer and Valiant were Chrysler's attempt at a European-style compact. So, I went with that style and just cleaned it up and tied it together. Thumbnail is the original pic.

That is nice! Amazing how extending some elements and removing the warts really spark a car design. It looks like a much larger car without actually being one.

 

Thanks, Nitro. I really like early sixties compacts, so I have been doing some renderings for myself. Now I just have to find a real one and get to work!

Amazing what a change in roofline does, I think you're on to something. Eliminate and fill the side of the back window that shows. Fatten that section of the roof a bit and put on a scoop like the '69 Mustang. Similarly add a side scoop in the cove behind the front wheel well. Then two tone it dark red in the center with the top and bottom silver. Copper in the center with charcoal gray top and bottom would look cool too. If this comes out cool I may have to look for one!

What I like the most out of James' version is how the roof flows into the "trunk hump" instead of the stock double-bump. Had to throw in my tweaks...

This takes Chrysler's "European Styling" and turns it into "Italian Coachwork"!

Nicely turned out, James. I like the slightly wrapped-around backlight. It keeps the C-pillar from looking too heavy.

 

That was my first thought when I saw Rot's and James' renderings: A little Ferrari 250GT Lusso or 330 and maybe Lancia Appia!

Take one clapped out Dodge Lancer, add a roofline from a '61 Dodge Polara, and some wheels from a Ferrari Lusso, and you get: The Lancer Italiano!

Problem is, a set of Borrani wheels will set you back the cost of the Lancer and Polara put together.

WOW, never thought the car would get this much attention, love the new roofline, but a little spendy for a daily driver...love it with the salt flats on in and set down where it should be.Thanx for all the input.

 

You can bet that Exner sketched something that looked almost exactly like this back around `59.
I was also thinking about adding the little kink from the back of the `61 Plymouth side windows, just to give it a family resemblance.
