There's money in it for the FoMoCo, not surprising they would jump on this. Now if MoPar could convince someone to license and stamp out 300C and 300D convertibles again......

  4. i don't believe Ford is making them , rather it's an official licensed product made by United Pacific

  6. What is Ford doing other than getting some positive press coverage and collecting licensing fees from those that are developing products like this and the Drake/Carpenter '40?

  7. United Pacific Industries, don't know, but sounds Chinese to me!

What are various states going to do about titles for these, are they going to be considered current year of manufacture, reproduction, what about serial numbers, etc?

  9. Ford is not involved with the 5 window coupe body. HRP

  10. I think it's just a licensing deal. A lot of people don't realize that any (legitimate) company that makes reproduction parts like this body has to pay large sums to Ford for the right to do so.

This post is another good reason not to believe Bloggers. They dont seen to get the getting the information 100% correct just in a hurry to post.

This is the body made by United Pacific and Licensed By Ford, they have nothing to do with production they just collect a royalty for using the name. Just like Chevy and other car companies do with aftermarket products.

  12. Well stated, Mr. Spadaro.

  13. Yup but Ford sure does like to parade this stuff out at their booth every year at SEMA to try and make it look like they are huge backers of the hotrod industry.

$21k for a shell? That's wonderful if you want to have $50k+ in a hot rod. Strictly for builders who resell to old guys with deep pockets who don't know how to build one or don't want to. Average dudes like me have trouble trying to figure out how to finance the build of a complete car for that kind of money (or less).

  15. AutoBlog wrote its blog post correctly, and noted that United Pacific is licensing the rights to the bodies from Ford.

The problem is people have crappy reading skills now, and either can't comprehend what they read, or simply skip over portions of paragraphs.

Those original body dies went to Argentina in the late '30s, as I recall. There was an old story in Hemmings...

  17. How about the title of the article:

Ford cranks up '32 Ford Body Production. Ford has nothing to do with the production of these bodies.

another item to note is that in spite of stories to the contrary, US manufacturers do not keep body dies for very long. If there are federal regulations requiring them to provide replacement fenders or other sheet metal parts/assemblies, they run off an amount they consider adequate to comply with that reg for the stipulated number of years, and the dies are either destroyed or sold to a related company in another country. The idea that there were still Model T, Model A or even deuce dies sitting in Dearborn in 1970 or any other year past say 1950 is absolutely ludicrous. In many cases the dies are remachined to make the next years' edition of the vehicle. Blueprints are certainly kept or digitized for the archives but as to the body dies, stop and think how much storage space would be required to have those on hand for absolutely no valid business reason.

  19. You are correct HRP and the five window is stamped from all new tooling which United Pacific owns. They are stamped off shore, assembled there and shipped here. May be assembled stateside in the near future. The '40 coupe body is assembled here in the states and has been licensed by FOMOCO. Tim

It's a licensing agreement. That's why those horrible Street Beast oversized Playskool bodies had to be called 33 coupe and couldn't say Ford on them anywhere in the ads.

  22. So if its "licensed" by Ford, does Ford have anything to do with how it would compare to an actual 32 body? Or are they just grabbin the loot!

Are these new units a real spot on clone of a 32? Maybe better than original?

Chickenridge, I read that over, its not worded correctly Ford didn't have anything to do with that body it just collects cash for licensing. They used it as an attention grabber in their display at the overrated dog and pony sema show. Heck if you look at half the twit posts under the blog, most of those people responding don't have a clue as to what is going on in the aftermarket. If the knowledge of your readers is that low how accurate does your post have to be. "Blogger" another person too lazy to get a real job.

And are they not far more accurate reproduction parts than some that are made in Ohio ? And I'm not talking about Brookville.:)

I wish people would stop their crying about stuff made in china....Unless you are very Rich, You have to buy stuff made in China or You could not make it in todays world......These bodys are very nice! And affordable! United Pacific Spent the money and Did not rush this project, So that they could bring a quailty product to the market. The Dies and tooling was made here....Stamping is done over seas Because United pacific would like to be able to turn a profit for all their time and hard work on this project. (As they should) If they did the stamping here the price of the body would be alot more. Bottomline is Made here or there "Quality" is "Quality" Period!!!......Get over it!!.....If it is that big of a deal to you Do us all a Favor and turn off your China made computer Now....LOL

Saw em at SEMA. They look pretty good. 21k and that does NOT include a grille shell.
Its a good option when you look at the cost of an original and have to own a 32
