Vintage shots from days gone by!

Please forgive my oversight. I see now after enlarging that it is a 1935 Chrysler Airstream. Notice the little chrome bullet taillight pod and the wings on the radiator surround......so, still a 1934 photo possibly.

Driver was probably wearing a T-shirt and MAYBE a waist seatbelt. Probably having a smoke in the pits also. Safety in this sport has drastically improved. It was needed.

Eric Carlsson (driver) and K.R. Svensson (navigator) getting ready to begin the 1963 East African Rally. Carlsson was a factory Saab driver for many years. Here he pilots a Saab 92.



Pat Moss-Carlsson pilots her Saab 96 in the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally. Pat was the sister of Sterling Moss and the wife of Eric Carlsson.

Any idea what that thing in the background is? Looks like an early attempt at a monster truck.

 

Our over-the-road trucker son is spending the night at this town, so I thought I'd just see if there were any Jalopy Journal appropriate pictures. There were, so here they are.
