Hi Vic, Have you had time to put any more miles on the car and get that transmission slicked up a little more...? Scott Posted using two Dixie cups and a medium length piece of string.
I have owned 2 vehicles with a TKO600 and driven others. Plus, I have driven several Vipers which use basically the same trans. They key to the 2-3 shift is to hold your elbow up, which helps deliver the kind of straightforward motion that others have noted here. Also MANDATORY is a shift plate that others have mentioned. American Powertrain in TN is the place for sales and support of this stuff. Keisler is officially bankrupt as of last week. Tremec had cut him off a while back for various unscrupulous practices. When I could run my 650hp 528 Hemi down the road at 1800 RPM and not have to fill up every hour.... and keep the 3.91 posi, I was sold. In my current vehicle, the 688hp Wedge motor spins a TKO. I will never go back. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Scott & RLR: I didn't have a lot of time to really run the car a lot but what little I have, the trans does begin to feel it's shifting smoother... or am I experiencing "wishful thinking"? Seriously it does feel a bit smoother so will probably be even smoother with time. As per previous post, the rep at Liberty said I should give it 500 - 1000 miles to work in. Thanks for asking guys!
Thanks for the "elbow up" technique, I'll have to try that the next time I take car out for a spin! So Keisler is out of business? Man, good thing I didn't go with them... ****s when a business goes kaput!
I have a TKO 600 in a 69 Vette with a hot 427 - 3:55 gears. Works great ! When I first put it in, I had issues with hang-up going into 3rd - Tremec rep told me NOT to attempt to push the lever sideways - just straight forward - after that it has worked fine !! Driver error.........
I install one of the tko 600 behind a gm zz427 big block chev, it worked out really nice , go for it , you won't be diss appointed
