I have a superbell front axle. I am wondering what spindles And brakes I could use. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Anything from 1928 mechanicals through 1948 hydraulics, and any adaptation of brakes ever used on them (the list is HUGE)
Mine has 40 Ford spindles with drum brakes. (I ***ume 40s also. They were on the car when I bought it. I hope the pads never wear out. I would hate to have to find out what they are for replacement sake.)
Most folks use either the 37-41 spindles with round flange marked 78- or the 42-48 spindles with square flange marked 21A-. As above there are many different brake setups can be used on these two spindle sets, wjereas there are only a couple for the 28-31, 32-34 and 35-36 sets.
Just post a picture of the backing plates, and someone here will tell you, within a few minutes, probably with a link to where you can get the shoes.
I am looking to rundisc brakes. Would these spindles still work for that? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
If your axle is an old production, be aware that they did make them to fit Chevy spindles as well. Measure the height of the kingpin boss and the dia of the kingpin and post them here. Somebody will have the correct numbers to compare.
If the axle is for Ford spindles, you want 1937-1948 Ford spindles and just about every hot rod company makes discs for them.
