    Good one! :D

Well, back to the subject at hand... the new carb scoop is very cool. Can you figure out some type of a filter element though?

Another one of us digging the scoop, though I have to laugh. When I looked at the photos I thought your car had wild green plug wires on it strewn all over.

Turns out it was a garden house haha.

Seriously bummed out right now.... I had planned on going to GNRS this weekend, but missed deadlines and a lack of finances have finally just put the kybosh on that idea. Gonna miss this time around, but I have fairly warned all of the pertinent females in my life that I am going to the big three in late Feb. down in San Diego. Not as easy as you think, either, as that is my mom's birthday weekend... No one can guilt like a Swedish/Jewish mother! Trust me on that one! "That's okay... I mean you cousin is only coming in from Alaska for my birthday... I can't be that important, right? At least I'll have her...."

Yup,I know that feeling, miss way to many race nites with faimly just crap -O*= lost a few chapionships that way. Don't get me wrong some times faimly comes first but when they would plan stuff on a race nite{sat.],what hell was that,6 other nites no prob at all.
Exsample=Cusein marrying some slezzball that I know was a bad deal, but I just had to be there for it, lasted less then one month before they broke up,cost me high points that year got 3place,only would had to start the race to win.

Wanted to go to the Grand Nationals but couldn't find anyone to go with. Just need to get out. Instead going to Turlock swap. Will meet friends there. Not really looking for anything but just like to be around the stuff. Means getting up at two-ish and driving a buck and a half each way but the weather will be good.

Ya, the scoop on the link is exactly like mine... In a bit better shape. Remember, I have my Corvette 7 fin valve covers to go on this as soon as I have some time to figure out breathers.

Here's a bad shot of the breathers on my corvette valve covers, I'm pretty sure speedway has them.

    Chip-
I know this has probably been asked before but....What year is the engine and what intake manifold are you running? Those valve covers are too nice to uglify!!!
Sorry you can't make it to the GNRS. I was looking forward to seeing you there.

Thanks FatBob, I too have been in both of those buildings as recently as 7 or 8 years ago when the Professional Building still had a few tenants and the Alamo was last used for it's purpose. Both are about a mile from my place, so I make it my "duty" to check up on them frequently. The decay at the Alamo is completely shocking, 'cause it didn't look nearly that bad in the mid '00s. I keep hoping for both of those buildings, the Alamo especially, but I notice in the last year or two the façade has grown a large vertical crack from the foundation up. Not good. Especially in this financial and political climate...

Ya, beyond the money thing I have tons of work in that is kinda kickin' my butt. With the travel over, walking all the time there and travel back plus recuperation that's a few days I just can't afford to lose right now... Bummer! Next year though...

As far as my valve covers go, don't worry too much about ugly on these gems. The face and fins are completely unaffected, as the tops have been drilled for the long type Offenhauser breathers. I picked up a very nice pair of those, but being centered they aren't playing well with my carb and linkage. What I need is a pair of the same brand that make a 90 degree turn as they leave the valve cover. That would give me the room for all the stuff linkage wise, yet later if my dream C26 manifold comes my way allow the re-use of the tall straight ones I have. Right now there is a Weiand dual plane of some sort on it, but without room for a front filler tube. That is going to change soon, too, as I have an Edelbrock torquer that I have removed all the "Torquer" emblems on and have been slowly polishing as time permits. I have a chrome filler tube and domed cap given to me by my Buddy Ron Olmstead, along with a polished finned pan he provided also. All together it should be pretty convincing for the era I'm shooting for.
Gotta do something about those heads, though.... Found a pair of 462 Double Hump heads out at a yard pick the other day that I might be getting soon.

Ya, that's what I am finding too. I have started out on three occasions in the last couple months to start the change out process from the after market tube axle on the front of my car to either a beam or a '37 tube. I have found a bunch of tubes around town, but that is the going price at this point. I know if I search a bit more that I will find something cheaper, or I can go with a '37-'41 type beam that is drilled. Heck, I even have a couple of '32-'36 beam axles around here too, not to mention a dropped "A" axle. I have so many choices and ways to set each up that I keep changing my mind!

The more I look at things, the less I'm unhappy about the aftermarket tube that is living and functioning well on the car right now. My digging shows that my '63-'64 time frame is right about when they started showing up in ads in the magazines, so it is correct from that standpoint. They always seem to be more of the next generation of the bucket, ('65-'70) than early sixties stuff to me, though.

Still, to my mind, the '37-41 beam that Ray Sizemore used in his articles in Car Craft is the seminal early sixties way to do this stuff, and the '37-'38 tube is more the fifties way to set them up. For some reason, to my mind unless it is dropped with the spring over, an "A" through '36 axle is more something that is appropriate on an earlier track roadster than a T-Bucket... But perhaps that just me.

Looks like I'm going to waffle a bit longer on this subject before I do anything....

Well thanks for TRYING to make me feel better Fuzzy, but I've got about half the population of Phoenix that has told me continuously how hard I blew it on this one... The ruse is much appreciated though.
