That's what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure there were more than 5 last year and I know for a fact that 1 of them is faster than Pauls Fiat.

  17. I remember a little 327 Chevy II back in '66 that was tuned and driven by William Tyler Jenkins, aka "The Grump".., (God Speed Bill), that worried Jere Stahls Hemi all year round, and took the sweat out of him on several occasions. Which of your street cars are you bringing to the battlefield?

Just got mine in the mail today, test fitting the clutch disk (I was certain they would screw something up Mopar trans/Chevy motor) photo bomb courtesy of my wife lol[IMG]

  22. They call that one a " MIBA" disk same with one I ran with the old 410. I beat on it pretty good and only wore .012 off it.

Had to look up MIBA, and yes i guess it is =) I can't wait till this season!!! i cant even imagine what this car will launch like but im sure i may sh&* my pants the first time!

  24. A couple years later ole Grumpy built that first famous Vega, with a itty bitty 331, and handed all the Hemi boys there ***es! My nephew Richard Hartman has fuel funny car with a 55 Chevy body on it. Maybe I can ask him if its ok if you **** on his clutch dust, that is if he's not to busy tuning Terry McMillen's Top Fuel Dragster that weekend.

  25. Ok, here is my favorite REAL DEAL Hemi story of all time. My dads old friend & drag race partner **** Jones (Jonesy) had a '56 Chevy street car with a 425HP/427 & Turbo 400 (one of John Kilgore's, they were all buddies, and dad said he couldn't believe how good that car ran, and didn't kill its '56 Chevy rear end) in '69. Dad used to say,"I am sue Laura Scudders made those Chevy rears, cause they were nuthin but pressed potato chips". It was all steel and would run low 12's with 7 cheater slicks. It was painted 57 Caddilac Cobalt Blue like the 56 G***er we had, but the roof was painted silver. Now Jones HATED!, 68-69 Road Runners, cause a 383/4speed version was only $2800 new, all the squirrels had em, and they all claimed theirs was the fastest car in the San Fernando Valley, and Jonesy sawed every one of em off he could find. He had a sticker on each wing window that was the Coyote, holding the Road Runner in a head lock, ****er punching him with the caption "Beep Beep yer ***! Toluca Lake Bobs Big Boy was (and is to this day) THE, cruise in/street race place to be, and had its own top ten fastest list, (our mom worked there as a car hop in the late 50's). Thursday night was Mopar night, and one Thursday night, Jones, dad, and a couple other guys cruised in, in this lone 56 Chevy, and rumpity rump backed into an open spot between all the Mopars. Within minutes, they were surrounded by pissed off Mopar dudes asking did he wanna run his clunker? Jones said ya, I do, but I don't wan a waste my time on ****ty little "Toad Runners", go get something with a Hemi in it. They brought out a '68 Hemi Road Runner, on slicks, uncorked. They raced on one of the local freeway being built at the time (the 101 I believe). Jones killed the Hemi 3 for 3. A couple weeks later, the Hemi boys came aknock'n with a '69 Hurst Hemi Cuda, and whipped Jones 3 for 3. At this same time, Richard Ruth was just finishing the 55's for Two Lane Black Top ( Richard told me himself, he wanted to build 56's, patterned after our '56 B/G car. They also took the movie guys for a ride in Jonesy's 427 street car, and scared the **** out of em. Originally the Two Lane cars were painted Baby Blue with white tops, but the movie guys said drag racers were dirty scroungers, and made Ruth primer the cars, then, one of the camera crew guys poured laquer thinner on them and streaked the primer. Anyway, when the cars were still blue/white Jonesy driving & Ruth riding shot gun took the bad *** movie car (Tunnel Rammed LS6/Rock Crusher/4.88 57 Pontiac) to Bobs, lured the 69 Hemi Cuda out to the freeway strip, and CRUSHED that ***** with that famous 55! ( they had taken it to Irwindale for some shake down runs and made some 10.70 laps in the high 120's).

Damn, You got some royalty runnin through your veins, 10.70s back then was retarded fast!

  27. Not bad for a movie car. This was the one they used for all the out side shots, that later became the American Graffiti 55. The "camera car" that was found in Canada and restore a few years ago, was also originally powered by the LS6/tunnel ram combo. Ruth said that James Taylor couldn't drive the car worth a ****, and kept fouling plugs and smoking clutch disc's. So they put a hyd. cam/oval port LS5 in it with a two plane and single 4160 Holley. They mounted the two four carb kit on an aluminum plate, and fastened to the tilt front end with the scoop hardware, so the in car shots looking out the wind shield would look right. Since the movie was filmed while actually crossing country in the summer time, they rigged up an A/C unit to keep the actors cool

Whoever was wheelin it during the scene where they raced the model A (which Dennis Wilson calls a 'Deuce Coupe...probably cause of the rad shell),was definitely not James Taylor then.....Listening to that thing sing on the launch, then as he runs it up through the gears is some beautiful, scary music.
That scene guaranteed that this cat will never own a car with an automatic transmission again.:D
