Hot Heads has the low deck Desoto single 4bbl aluminum intakes in stock.

 

Marine 2x4 is the same casting as the 56 300 intakes.

 

Converted truck 2bbl intake that I took the water from the sides.

Yup, the marine 2X1 looks bolted together.

 

For what it's worth, the Edmunds dual quad intake that I found for my '52 331 has 53 CHRY stamped on its underside.

They really are rare, because he made them in 53 and they were designed to use Olds carbs. Then in 54 Chrysler changed the ports so that was the end of the small port manifolds. Sure would be neat to know how many he made though.

 

have a chance to buy a 2 small carb truck intake for good price, I have a spare 331 needing an intake only, can this intake work on the street on a mild 331? I like the look of multiple carbs, and what size carb can I fit on there even if I have to make an adapter for 97's

 

Up @ thehemi.com there's a Thread were a guy used adaptors to put 2GC carbs on a 2X1 truck intake. Looked pretty good. I've heard the 2X1 was used on Fire Trucks & they are usually fast!

 

Mine's got a pair of 2041S '54 331 WCFBs on it. I also managed to dig up a pair of Edmunds 4 bbl air cleaners to complete the picture.

 

here is the intake I was talking about, wet intake, can it be used on a 331 that has the water holes in the heads if I block them?

You have 2 options: Put the same block offs that are on the back of the head on the front openings & use the integral thermostat in the intake, along with a 392 or Chevy W/P, or...block off the integral thermostat housing in the intake.

 

thanks, all the intake ports, bolts holes and water passages on the heads and intake all match-up??? any issues?? just want to make sure, he is going to send to me after this weekend. will be paying just as much for shipping as for the parts.it is heavy.

 

Should, but there are some heads that have a tall/narrow under carb passage from the heads instead of the square passage, can't remember if they're supposed to be truck or IND heads. If you have the tall/narrow you can have the top welded up to match the intake or the HH intake is designed to cover it.

 

Will the intake physically fit? Yes. Because it was made for a truck, the casting around the center port (on the head flanges) is enough to cover the smaller car center port. You can use it on your 331 or 354 (your IND engine is a late one which used car type heads) by using a set of block off plates on the front of your heads, where the water pump/crossover would normally be bolted.

I kind of like it . . . a bit 'over the top' like 60's style hotrod/customs . . . but I like that era! Did you have to move the radiator forward - or change it's angle (to clear the fan)? On my 34 coupe (blown motor), had to set the engine back quite a bit.

 

Wondering the same thing.
The hood must need to be about 4" longer.
I really dig the oil filter treatment

 

No I've moved the bulkhead back 3 inches , radiator is in the stock position , apart from the headers going thru the inner fender panels and just the corners of the valve covers poking out of the hood everything will be under the hood

Has anybody posted a picture of @saltflatmatt's #GearDrive 6x2 intake yet!? I'll tell you what, it fits PERFECT; no filing carburetor bodies or clearancing for distributors required. And it looks fantastic, if I do say so myself.

 

Here is a 2 x 1 that I was told came of a truck and I have the heads and believe they have sodium filled valves. The center intake side of the heads have long narrow openings.

One interesting point of the Edelbrock Hemi Intake vs the Weiand Drag Star, is that Holley 94 carburetors fit without filing the front float bowl screw.
