Besides. I thought this was a match race. In a match race you "RUN WHATCHA BRUNG" and you better bring enough.
You guys fighting for the North aren't making excuses already are ya?

    Falfa-

That is a great video. Your 55 launches like a beast and you ran that guy down set the top end. I do have to ask...what's with those arm exercises? It reminds me of when I was a kid and saw people doing the old "sweating to the oldies" exercise videos...but to each their own.

In regards to painting something on my trunk lid...you can wait 6 months to read it...I will make it nice and big so you won't have to squint when you are 3 car lengths behind.

    Mob out

    Couple things..
    1. I aint on either side.
    2. Scales are traditional. You dont see scales used in bracket racing.
    3. I am lookin' for ANY car to line up with regardless of engine size, tire size, transmission gears, fenders on, fenders off, etc.. just so long as the thing meets the MDA criteria and is fairly close in m***. I think you would find that will make for some pretty close racing. Isn't that what everybody wants? It's what I dream of..

Yea... I smell it as well... it's coming from the feather weight cars that are afraid everyone will find out how weak their junk really is.. :D

Nobody HAS to do anything. I think it would be cool if the MDA can have the track open the scales for anyone that would like to use them. I am sure we will find out who is REALLY scared...

I'll be easy to find... my dance card currently has only one taker. That stinky other fruit guy...:D;)

If my convertor change gives me the results I'm looking for then we should be resonably close to matching up on ET.... count me in for at least one match up. Running the Bad Banana is on my bucket list.

The only thing that might get in the way of having the scale open is space. The scale, tech, and fuel/gas pumps all share the same general area. There is only so much space on the blacktop for cars vendors and the MDA head quarters. There is plenty of pit area on the gr***, but most guys cringe when that is the only place left to pit.

  15. don't count out the 833 too soon. with a aluminum case either a original direct connection or p***ion performance they can handle some real power and keep the weight down. a little time spent slick shifting or pro shifting the gears makes all the difference shifting it. there are also red and green stripe gear sets available to fine tune the trans to your engine. the early side cover with the newer steel shift forks (ends ground down) to fit work better than the br*** forks. have you seen many ford and chivvy trans adaptors to mopar? no there is a reason for it the mopar trans was stronger. the 833 was the trans of choice for all pro stock racers before the lenco. if anyone needs help with their mopar trans pm me. hemi hemi hemi

What trans is in your coupe?
Is it faceplated or pro shifted?

  20. Yes, I know and agree that the 833 was the cats ***, before the Doug Nash, Lenco, Jerico etc. I was only pointing out that Joels trans, which appears in the pics to be an iron model, may be adding weight to the car (still giddy your going to a stick Joel). Didn't they also make a Hemi only version (18 spline input) and the other lighter duty version 23 spline? Maybe you could clear that up for us since you seem to swing on daddy mopar's sack. Mouse, mouse, mouse.

    That brings up another point...

Last year we had over 400 cars there to run. From the response so far we will be blowing that number away.(over 215 already registered)
That being said, if you don't need your truck and or trailer in the pits please park them in the spectator parking. This allows for more race cars/trucks to attend, and also makes the pits appear more vintage and lets the guys taking pictures or magazines covering the event to not have modern trucks in every picture. Also one truck and trailer allowed in the pits with each drag car. Your crew and family members need to park in the spectator parking because space is limited.

Thank you in advance from the MDA.

  22. For those who have not been to a Meltdown Drags:

There are two parking areas. The east lot will be where the cars will be parked that II FUNNY referred to (tow vehicles, open trailers, anything that racers don't NEED to have in the pits). It is close by. The bigger west lot is where the general spectator will park.

    Also PLEASE remember this:

Race cars = gate ONE (East gate)
Spectator cars, car show cars, swap meet vendors = gate TWO (West gate)

And YES, we will really need to conserve pit space as we are going to have another full house - its a good problem to have! :D The more pit space we can conserve, the more racecars we can fit in before we are forced to shut it off. Another reason to preregister NOW!

  23. the 23 spline was the trans behind the 383s and four barrel 440s. hemis and six packs got the 18 spline. the main shaft was larger along with the input. the 18s used a different front bearing retainer to accommodate the larger bearing up front. due to these differences the cases do not interchange. throw out bearing holders are specific to each retainer used. there were two b-body tail shafts one with a single shifter pad this is the pre 71 setup. the double pad is the 71 and later to work with the new b-body and e-body. even though its called a b-body it will place the shifter into the cross member on a early car and won't work with out some serious surgery. there was also a a-body tail shaft its the short one. these were also made as a aluminum case from direct connection. for any of these to work with a chevy a piece of the input shaft needs to be cut off. for the mopar guys needing a new input due to a chevy hack job p***ion makes these now. its a big sack due to the big balls a quality rarely seen in a chevy driver. hemi hemi hemi

  24. i forgot to mention the aluminum truck trans. these are common and avoid them. its a 3-speed with over drive. the case has no bushings in the counter shaft and cannot take any kind of racing abuse. they can also have some non standard bearing retainers that would require boring the bell housing. quick time performance makes a sfi ****tershield that saves 15 pounds over the old lakewoods. to save even more weight a 318 dakota starter works with almost every mopar made. they look like the race starters only a lot cheaper i run one and its the way to go. avoid aluminum fly wheels for drag racing. they are for cars that go in circles. i hope this clears up some of the mystery on the strongest four speeds made during the muscle car era.

  25. Please do not post incorrect information here. Much of your tech info above is not accurate.

  26. Touche', X-RACER. I have a '62 Dodge 440 Hardtop Super Stock car (with history) that has an updated ch***is, new Strange Dana, etc, that is partially finished. A legal 383 2/4bbl 330/343 HP engine with all the late NHRA allowable up dates, and a bunch of parts,(including hard to find body & trim pieces for it etc. PM me if you know anyone interested. You are the undisputed Mopar guru (for today anyways). Mouse, Mouse, Mouse.

Actually, the cases are interchangable as long as you use the correct input bearing and retainer. Also the main shafts are A and B,C and E specific but were not different because of being fronted by an 18 spline input. Cutting the input would not be the correct way to put a A833 behind a Chevrolet, there are adapters that are made for this purpose.

    Guys-

Let's move the technical discussions to the appropriate thread. This thread is about the best damn vintage drag meet in the country.

I don't know about some of you guys, but some of this blah-blah stuff reminds me of the guys at work who brag about their Corvettes or Porsches to compensate for their bald heads or "other short-comings". :)

Let's all keep this to the awesome trash talking and setting up great match races!
