A lot of very nice coupes on here! Thomas, there are generally 3 different coupes referred to when talking about these cars.. The one generally termed "coupe" is the short-door (short roofline) coupe with an opera seat in back (somewhat cramped). Then there is the "business coupe" - also a short-door coupe, but with no rear seat and perhaps a pass-through to the trunk for extra room for the business man's wares. The long-door coupe is correctly termed the "sedan coupe" and, along with longer doors and roofline has a more roomy rear seating area. Nice cars guys! Keep the pictures coming! -Dave

Brendan1959 .... Here are the two pages of "Dealer Service Bulletins" from May of 1947 which I previously mentioned. They are wiring diagrams for Ford '41-'48 V8 showing Legend and Key boxes that list wire colors and wire gauges for various circuits. Wire gauges are for a 6 volt system so more than ample for a 12 volt system. Note that optional equipment (i.e. heaters, fog lights) are not included. I also have the Merc and Lincoln diagrams which do include such items and I could tell you what colors and gauges they used for those if you wish. If subsituting an Alternator for the Generator, ignore the separate Regulator. Note: For fire safety's sake I recommend eliminating the original "Circuit Breaker" board and subsituting it with blade-type fuse panel(s). Good luck. Dan

I found an old photo of the engine when I first got the car but will still post another one later. This will show where the bracket is mounted.
Here is a better photo. There should be at least 1 small hole in the firewall for the bracket. Hope this helps. Steve
An event judge told me my '47 is classified as a "5-passenger Sedan Coupe (long-door), as opposed to the 3-Passenger Sedan Coupe (short door). Appraiser said same.
This may or may not help with wiring, attached is a scan of my redrawn and hopefully clearer wiring diagram. Brendan
I have always liked the look of these 46-46 Ford long door coupes. Make great looking rods with a bit of lowering and otherwise stock look. Got to get one someday.
Here are pics of mine, I recently purchased it from a guy who imported it to Melbourne Australia in 2009 who hadn't done anything with it since he got it. I know he brought it from a swap meet at Hugo Minnesota back around 5-6 years ago. Anyone know of this car or its history would be great. Some work has commenced since I got it mainly mechanical and some whitewalls, still going to change the the rims to steelies soon.
