Is the hole in the back of the intake manifold for the temp sender on a '55 265 NPT?

I read somewhere that for this year it was in combination with the temp gauge......you needed both the sender and that gauge for it to work as both parts were specific for that year only?

Well, you need both parts because it is a mechanical gage with a capillary tube. The individual parts ar not going to work without the tube. I think the manifold port is straight thread and a loose nut on the tube/bulb screws into it to install the bulb.

squirrel, what sender did you use? Do you have a part #. The one I picked up supposedly for a '56 is way to big for the hole.

Bolt a 56 or newer intake on to it. Or get a mechanical gauge that will fit the female tep gauge hole in the 55 intake. 55 is a one year deal.

I guess it would be good to mention....my '55 engine is in a '32 pickup.

I'm also running an elec fan and have a thermo cover that will accept an NPT fitting for that sender.

I'm wondering if I can use a coupler to fill the oriignal sender hole to use the '56 sender?

look carefully at the thread on the sender hole, it's probably not pipe thread.
