Ok I have a 39 ford coupe that is air bagged. I'm new to the street rod scene. I've almost got the car ready to go but I'm needing to pick out a nice wheel combo.

I've been looking on the forums and I really like the 1936 spyder hub cap look with the wide whitewalls.

My question is do I have to have the old wide 5 wheels for these caps to work ?

What are my options in order to be able to use the spyder hub caps ? 15" or 16" ?

Not a good picture of it but gives you an idea of the car.

Ooh don't say street rod ( and change those rear lights before anyone sees em!)But to answer your question.. Wide five caps only fit wide five wheels, which only fit wide five drum brakes which only fit early ford (up to 48) front and rear ends. You may be able to buy bolt pattern adapters to fit wide five wheels to a smaller pattern . Best of luck.

You can buy wide five adapters from **** Spadaro and I am in the process of casting adapter covers that look like 37-39 hubs, I should have them done in the next couple of months. I am also making a wide five front disc brake hub that will be a direct bolt on to 37-48 spindles using stock bearings no spacers. Jim (55willys)

55willys - So tell us about more this wide five front disc brake hub you will making.
The discs themselves will be wide five pattern and allow bolting up 36/37/38 wide five wheels?

The hub will look like the original wide five from the outside and have bosses cast into the back of it to bolt on a brake rotor. It will be a direct bolt on to 37-48 spindles. I am also designing an adapter plate to replace the brake drum and bolt a rotor to the 2 piece wide five front hub. The key to all of this is the caliper bracket that I am in the design stages of now.

I am also close to casting adapter covers to go over a **** Spadaro type of adapter. They will look like a wide five hub on the outside in both front and rear configures and sandwich between the adapter and wheel. That way you can keep whatever hubs you have now. PM me if you want more info Jim
