I can get it out, but it's the simple fact that's its a difficult process and I want to make sure it's right before hand.
The design is fine.. It's the shit can macs antique auto window Channels that are the part that will most likely fail

I found a much stronger linkage rod for my latches on the doors.
So I swapped them out today. Waiting on my deck lid to arrive so I can see what all I have to cut out of the back to make it fit correctly . I'm pretty excited to have one less glass part.
I'm really hoping to have it ready for paint by spring. When it's ready for paint , that's when the engine will come out and head to the machine shop for all kinds of goodies !

I would replace those plastic clips with metal ones.

I was at summit today picking up new white walls for our sedan when sitting on the return shelf was pitman arm.. It was for a mid 70s Chevy car. It looked awful similar to my f1 arm. For $20 I grabbed it, figured what the hell it may fit.. Sure enough it fits great, and has a nice offset to get it out from the frame a bit. It's very heavy compared to my stock one. From what I have found, any 70s style car, ford dodge or Chevy all use the same spline . Good To know!
I took a few pics of what it looked like beside my stock one

It's good when chance buy's come out good....thats handy to know that they all have the same spline.

I have found that to be true also. They indexed to go on at 90 degree intervals. I have taken a file and cut a splines so as they can go on at any positions.

Is the small end the same taper and diameter as the old Ford rod ends?

Yes. It's the same 7 degree .688 hole (roughly) diameter

That's really strange. I've never heard of rumble lids being bigger...

Me neither. I very puzzled. I've never herd or seen anything like it. I've called my friend again and we double checked all dimensions and it is 100% different. It's an inch to big all the way around.. Which seems hard to believe..
It's a shame I wasted the $$, but now I'm stuck on what to do since all the deck kids that are reproduced are the size of the one I just bought . And now my buddy is curious as to why his is so small also.?

Without seeing these up close, I'm guessing your buddy's lid has been modified. Originally the lids are the same stamping for trunk and rumble. Just different nuts inserted at different spots for the hinges.

Your new lid is obviously original and did fit a real car. I'd just cut the glass gutter from your body and move it out. You have lots of experience with glass, and it warps less when you "weld" it.

Are 3w and 5w lids different?

I can put a tape across my 5w lid if you want some more data.

Actually I'll do it now and edit in the dimensions.

The deck lid I bought was a 5 window. Steve's auto says there is no difference .

    Ok, my lid measures:
    Front to rear:
    At centre: 32-1/4"
    At sides: 31-5/8"

    Side to side:
    Front: 38-3/8"
    Middle: 38"
    Rear: 38"

This is a stocker 33 5w trunk car.

    Mart.

There is no difference. All 33-34 lids are the same. Sometimes guys get fooled with a 32 3-window lid, but you don't have one if your lid came off that rusty 34 5-window.

It indeed came off of "The Rusty" 5 window, because it's mine-hahaha
I'm blown away, that it won't fit! Makes no sense!

If the just purchased deck lids measures out ok then the trunk opening needs to be measured on the glass car that it is going on, maybe it has sucked in from when the the 33 deck lid was last on it.
