remote starter switch

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by lcpland, Feb 25, 2014.

  1. I have a remote starter switch (cheap one from autozone--Actron/10 Amp remote starter trigger switch) I know how to wire it to crank the engine, but can I start the engine with it as well? The engine is from a 1965 mercury, it’s a 200 ci inline 6, currently sitting outside of my 1960 falcon.
If it is possible to start it, what’s a good/quick way to shut it off? I just want to test the engine to make sure it runs before going through the work of swapping it with the old 144.

  2. Just make a on/off switch (toggle is fine) with 2 leads and alligator clips on each end.

Hook up your starter switch from battery to solinoid.

Hook up your new "run" switch from pos on battery to the power side of tour resistor on your coil. Turn on your toggle "run" switch, then crank your starter switch. Whe you flip off your toggle "run" switch, the engine will quit.

  3. yea just turn ther switch on and hit the remote starter switch.
