Looking good! I got those hinges to work with a little shimming too. I mad a gasket from plastic like the one they came with. And a lil manipulating of the deck lid and i'm satisfied. I'll post a pic when i get the deck lid back on. Doing body work myself.

I'd like to take a minute to preach.

Shrinking discs are the SHIT! I will ALWAYS have one of these handy from now on. I used to have a fluted one I didn't like very much so I wasn't that into it. But this one rules. Dents are laughable. Seriously, pound that shit out the other way, don't matter if it gets a little weird then start in on it with the disc. Hold over an area for 10-20 seconds then hit it with a spray of water. The water will flash-steam on the spot and all the high spots come down a little.

This was less than 10 minutes.

Put a tiny bit of dish washing detergent in the water, When you go back over the same spot it lubricates the disk and is more gentle on the metal.

Pretty cool. I must live in a cave, never heard of it. I'll have to get one comin'. Work on a fender last week at work all stretched. Had to torch it to shrink. Wonder how they work on lighter ga. new car sheet metal.

  9. I have always wanted to try a shrinking disk, now I just bought that same one on Ebay. Thanks. Great build by the way .

As noisy as a cutoff wheel, loud :)

I think it would work well. The guy on the previous page is right. I polished it and added some soap to the water, now it's smooth and doesn't dig the metal.

    Thanks!

I'm about to move into the bondo sanding death stage. Done with sheet metal, I'll bring this thing over so you can play with it.
