I have a 1964 c10 with a 292, what is the cap pressure supposed to be for the factory radiator? My dad thinks it's supposed to be a 7lb system, but everything I have found says 13lbs. Can anyone help me out? Help greatly appreciated and thanks in advance! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Are any of the parts rotten that may blow apart when too much pressure is applied? Raising the pressure raises the boiling point. Go with 7lbs if you are worried, 13 if things are in good shape. My suggestion.
And a heater core to match that pressure. Many forget about the heater. Try 7# to see if it may be fine then maybe work up.
So I looked again today and my radiator is leaking just a little bit. I have been using a 13# cap but not sealed all the way. I ordered a new radiator should come in tomorrow or the next day. Should I use whatever cap it comes with? I forgot to ask what pressure it was. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It didn't come with one, it has plastic tanks, is the #13 cap I currently have ok? Or should I get a lower pressure one when I swap the radiator?
I put in the new radiator, and set the 13# cap. I drove back from my uncles and the truck was barely blowing hot air, and the temp gauge was reading real low. It's like 12 miles of 2,900rpms it should be warm right? I checked everything and all looks good, motor wasn't too hot or anything, it was just fine. Does this sound ok? Or am I being paranoid?
