DKW F7s could be had with wires in some versions:

They were front-drive, with transverse 2-stroke twins, a sort of back-to-front motorbike layout. I think the layout is quite central to the concept and character of the car. It's always a pity when someone hot-rods an unusual car and first of all removes all the unusualness.

I wouldn't pick a front-drive car to start with, generally, but if someone gave me a DKW F2/4/5/7/8 I'd approach it from a front-drive angle. It's a light car at about 1500lbs; I'd be thinking pre-war hot hatch - which ties in nicely with the streamline/fastback idea. How about a large motorbike engine/gearbox, some liquid-cooled 1100 or so, say, installed back to front? We'd have to reverse the direction of rotation, so add the ring and pinion out of a fwd transaxle driven off the drive sprocket? Reverse becomes a problem, so perhaps rather a transaxle turned upside-down, with the final drive at the front, chain-driven by a transverse engine behind it?

I'd keep the structural plywood body construction, too.

Hey guys, I need to weld up the hole in my hood that someone cut for an aircleaner, plus I have to fix some rust in the front center of the hood. I can't match up the salmon paint right now but I do have the white. Can someone photoshop the center '3rd' of the hood white leaving the the outer '3rds' salmon? Kinda like the old flat black muscle car hoods but in white.

    Thanks

Took a couple hours but got your interior and somewhat of a similar color, though I'm not good with glossing up flat paint, maybe someone else could go off of this and make it better, but this was definelty one of the more difficult ones I've done. hope you like it.

Here's another version to take a look at....

This is my buddy's shoebox. Can you put a 2" front 3" rear chop on it and maybe a bit of a section job on it. Thanks. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394924338.895789.jpg

Here's a bit of roof streamlining and a bit lower. I'll try to come up with some whitewalls and possibly a Gasser style version.

I'm not so good with radical colour changes myself, but I had a go:

Sorry about the '80s Audi wheels: it just seemed to want them.

Ned's work points out 2 issues with the car in it's stock form. One, the rearend needs to move back about 3 inches to center the back wheels, and two, the back of the roof needs to come down to avoid that awkward rake to the windshield. I'm not sure eliminating the trunk bump is really worth the work though, it would look good with the roof and wheelwell issues fixed ( the bent wheel opening isn't helping either). For some reason I see this car in a deep dark blue/green teal or a burgundy. Just my 2 cents...

OK, I've got one for you guys. My coupe needs chopped 2" side windows are 15" high now. Coupe also needs pie crust cheater slicks on Halibrand 5 slot as cast wheels with as cast torque thrust on the front. Or leave the wheels white and paint the car gloss black or gloss maroon. Thanks Jibs

Now please lower it, not to the ground, reasonably please

  26. Could someone please paint this car white, put smaller wheels and black walls with caps of your choice, and give the bumpers a brushed look? Maybe a little lower if you wish. I just want to visualize my idea for my 62. Thanks!

How about some radiused wheel wells using front fender openings?

And here is a shaved vent windowless version with a tucked front bumper.

    Chopped

And then turned into a skateboard...
