Im going next weekend to cut this thing out. any ideas on what I should for the bed? <a href="http://s40.photobucket.com/user/noxided/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140315_104516_zps3169bacc.jpeg.html" target="_blank"></a>
That would be up to you. A camper would be nice for trips. Or, build or buy another stake bed. They are a kind of universal fit, if you find one that is not too beat up or rusty it should be easy to fit to your frame.
First, decide which running gear you plan to use. As is, the flathead six and rear are a 45 MPH ride. Personally, I'd look for a Chev Dana 60. You don't want the one from a dually pickup, as it's too wide. They made a van box Dana 60 dually which is narrower. Once you've decided on the axle width, I'd go with a diamond plate bed and wood stakes. There are plenty of ready-mades which bolt right on. If you weren't so far away, I know where there's a perfect one sitting right now. For front disc brakes, Jim Turner, www.turnerbrake.com makes a nice bolt-on kit. Just me, but I'm running a Packard V8 and Borg-Warner T89 overdrive in my C-cab. jack vines
I LIKE THIS IDEA! Well, if it's an appropriate species... I'd be extra careful cutting that one. It looks heavy.
Remember to take a chainsaw and a couple of extra chains. They don't last long when they hit steel, especially the frame. Voice of experience here.
Oh NOOOOOOO.... I guess that is HIS truck. Hopefully you can convince him to sign a bill of sale at some point.
at the time there were a lot of new calves around so he was a little defensive.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
