For the next couple of hours we played around with the stock hood and sides. As well as trying cardboard side, to see how it looked without the stock louvres.
From all this I think I liked the stock hood sides the best.

Later that afternoon I uploaded some of the images I had taken and photochopped some to see what I could come up with.
These couple of quick photochops gave me a good idea of the direction I want to take my roadster.

Here are a whole bunch of random shots I took on that Friday when we were messing with the roadster.

PS Gussy got a new footy jumper made for him for this new season. He has actually changed numbers. He has now got Timmy Watson's old number, 32. It's sought of fitting really.

Sunday morning was spent rescuing the coupe from where we left it over night. On the way home we stopped in and visited with Elsie and Chris.
It has been quite a while since I have seen them both. I got to see the new home they built a while back, as well as Chris amazing garage.

Geoff looking back at the shots you took brings lots of good memories we had in those few days. With the images of the roadster I really like the look of your roadster after you made it look kool man . I also like the way the roof flows with the low body. I also enjoyed riding shotgun in the B'ville coupe on the run, even the breakdowns were all an adventure of the trip, Geoff have you looked at the coupe yet?

Hey Mitch. All these '32s sought just happened. I didn't really set out to have so many. I can remember as a teenager dreaming of owning a '32 roadster.
Little did I know then that I would one day own one. The story of the me ending up with that roadster is an interesting one in itself.
Tony we had a great nine days doing hot rod stuff. It was neat playing at the end of our respective driveways on 2 very different hot rods.

No I haven't really done anything to find the problems with the coupe that made it play up as it did. I have however fixed the left front tyre and replaced the wheel bearings in the pickup.
Hi Devilrod. I am glad you are enjoying what I am and others are posting on this thread. It takes a lot of time to put it all together. But it is in it's self a great diary of what Tony and I have been up to this last couple of years.

I suppose someone needs to keep this thread from ending up down in the bowels of the HAMB.
Some striping I did quite a while ago!

This next one I did for the door of my father's room when he was in the nursing home. Was one of the toughest decisions our family had to make.
I borrowed the image from the HAMB and did the striping to compliment it.

  11. Hey Geoff I dug the 'long' roadster in '81 or '83 at Mildura Nats when in the hands of Mr. Dunn I think. It was the flames, baby moons & ww's- made it pop on the street.

So yer gonna have to let me layout some flames on it:D

  12. Cool lines Geoff! Every time I try to stripe with more than 2 or 3 colours it ends up looking like puke but you pull it off nicely. Nice thing you did for your dad too, if he had to be in a nursing home at least he got to have a customized room. Was he a rodder too?

Hiya Spoggie. Yeah my roadster definitely had impact. But it was just way to long for me.
Originally I had planned to again paint it black with flames. Then I sought of drifted away from that idea. However I am again leaning towards black with flames.
Actually Tony has put his hand up to flame it when it is required. He too lays some pretty good licks. But I do thank you for your offer.
Hey Mitch. No my late father wasn't a hot rodder. But he always worked on his own cars. Although he never had anything that could be considered hot rod material.
You have to remember that I have been striping for a lot longer than you mate. It was a while before I could get multi colored 'whodakys' to work. Actually it is not that often that I use more than one color.

Hey Tony ,,my first love was channeled 32 roadsters ,when i first met Fergy in 71-72 he was working on the 32 roadster for a customer which he eventually bought and later on was to become the maroon Stivey car in hiboy form shown in some of your pics ,it was channeled over a shortened and overlapped 40 frame ,very average job but it never would have broken ,,i did have a pic but cant find it ,but by doing that it gained full 40 running gear and hydraulic brakes but had the usual front wheel too far back problem in side profile ,i used to sit in that car and dream of owning one and driving it ,,,that car in unfinished form came from the Camperdown area,,

  25. I normally HATE white cars but I've been in love with that coupe since the first time I saw it. Wish I had the money to buy it. How much are they asking?

The white 33 coupe is for sale at $51,000 OBO its not the ideal family hot rod that I need right now but it probably would be worth getting in trouble with the wife over maybe???

PS: I will be interested to hear what Tony has to say about it...

Hello boys, yes I had a bit to do with that coupe. I heard about this body that was a stock car, and I followed the lead and a friend came with me to check it out. We came home with it , as I had my own 34 coupe nearing completion and needing cash I sold it to my friend. We came up with a plan how to build it. We were looking at Jakes coupe and Steve said he likes it so I said lets make it into a three window, as the body had no doors Steve bought 2 glass doors, then we sat the doors in the opening and marked the back of the body then we cut it up and made everything fit together a lot of work , then Steve finished the rest of the car and it came back to life as a three window coupe. It was chopped to suit the chop of the doors and then later on it got chopped more lower to look better and more streamlined. After it got on the road Steve drove it down to Port Fairy and the motor dropped a valve and smashed inside the motor , So for the next two days Steve and I fixed it up and had it running for the trip home . Yes I had a lot to do with that car it gave me good times and good friends and it might come back into my life again............Later Tony.
