Yes, but can't post them here as it's newer than '64 and OT.

Really don't want to make an album for a car I'm building for a friend. Just don't have the time for that.

Thanks! Have a few weeks while the new engine is getting machined for my Austin gasser, so if I get some sunny days I may be able to roll the Falcon out and get back on it a little!

My old 327 in the Austin gasser went away this morning, so got that out from under my feet! Suppose to get sunny out starting tomorrow, so 3 days will give me some time to move the Falcon into the driveway and do a few more things to it. Got my urethane bushing kit today, so I'll turn out some sleeves on the lathe and weld on some 3/4" studs to replace my front heims.

Well I've been able to make some progress on body work while waiting for the new engine to be built for the Austin gasser. Just fine tuning what I did, and getting a little primer shot. But the new 355 SBC came back from the engine shop today, so I'll be finishing up assembly on it, and getting the Austin back together for spring driving. Did pick up a different intake for the 355, and will be taking the tunnel ram off it and going to this:

Spent about 10 hours sanding the cast finish off, and then polishing it out to give it a little bling. I'll put two new 600cfm Holley 1850's on it when it goes on the 355.

I've always liked the looks of the cross ram manifolds. Be interesting to see how it performs compared to the tunnel ram. I just bought a couple of 600 Holleys for the Corvette. Best price I could find $274.95 each. Here is the link.

I just bought two 600cfm 1850-C vacuum secondary carbs with manual chokes direct from Holley for less than $200 ea., including shipping! These are carbs that were returned for warranty, and after being checked on their flow bench, and inspected were found to not have defects. They said the carbs are brand new, and only have signs of bolts tightened on the base. They are still fully warrantied, and have to be sold as "refurbished" though they are new. Can't go wrong at the price and warranty.

Thanks Chuck! I have been searching the internet for a year or more looking into cross rams. Just didn't want to pull the trigger and tear down my engine. The breakdown just made it easier to decide to switch, so I did it now and stumbled across the cross ram by chance at the right time.
I'm also adding the quick change vacuum balance kit to thee vacuum cans on the new carbs. They allow changing springs with just a flip top clip, and have a tube that you can connect the two vacuum cans together to make them balance out also.

Spent the day cleaning and assembling the engine for the Austin. Got the bottom end closed up, and block and heads painted. I'll be dropping the engine in tomorrow hopefully. Then just lots of little thing to hook back up!

Got the new engine settled into the Austin, so maybe get back to the Falcon's body work in a week or so! Just waiting on some vintage valve covers, and the new carbs to wrap up this engine!

  20. Looking good. Like the cross ram. What compression are you running? Mikey.

Engine shop said it is right at 10:1 compression. Flat tops with valve cuts and 62cc chambers on the heads, and .039" gasket. Hope it works well with my cam choice! My first cross ram, so I'm in for a new experience tuning it. Hope it's not too much different than the tunnel rams I've owned!

Very close to firing the Austin, so I can get back on the Falcon again! Carbs arrived, and all installed. Fabbed up new linkage, and throttle. Just need coolant and drop the distributor in once I prime the engine. Picked up a pair of 9" air cleaners with re-useable elements:

I got a crusty old pair of Mr Gasket finned valve covers off fleabay a week ago, and they arrived today. Way too much patina, so had to rework them:

After a little wet sanding with 5 way penetrant and 220 grit wet-dry paper, I got them cleaned up. Then screwed them down to the plywood and went after them with my buffer and some polishing rouge. I stopped when they looked good enough, as too much bling just wouldn't go with the look of the car.

Valve covers are going to give the new engine that COOL look!

  24. That new engine is looking good, wish I would have known you were looking for valve covers.

Thanks! These were a whopping $49 on fleabay BIN price. I guess nobody wanted to clean them up, as the ad was on for nearly a week when I spotted them. I rarely buy off Ebay, but decided I didn't want to wait two weeks for our biggest swap meet of the year to find a pair. They were probably still cheaper than I would have found, and look much more period than the modern copy cat castings.

    Lookin' good, dude.

Now quit screwin' around n' get back to the Falcon....:D

Soon, very soon! Should be done in a couple days, and then it's time to swap parking places and have more room to work on the Falcon! My little one car garage is so tiny I have to turn sideways to walk past the Falcon, and I have to really squeeze it forward to roll the door down and not hit the rear bumper!

A little grinding with the die grinder to open up the breather holes to round for the grommets, and open up the PCV hole to accept the larger grommet, and the valve covers were good to go! Not but about 1/2" clearance to the intake, but that's plenty for me!

With the other car nearly finished, I got the Falcon out for our monthly breakfast-car get together this morning! Not much turnout with the swap meet this weekend, and slight mist, but it's always fun to drive your car!
Got home and the sun came out, so I dug out a couple swap meet items that I purchased for the Falcon. Installed my $10 cast aluminum gas pedal with a fabricated hinge at the bottom. Then cut off my shifter handle and grafted one of the Hurst handles I found at the swap meet to it. After a couple cuts to reduce length to what felt good, I angle cut it to position it at a forward angle. Welded it all up and shot the weld with some paint, even though it's under the boot. Sits exactly where I wanted it now, and long enough to not be so hard to shift anymore.
