next Friday I'll registration inspect the pick-up and I wait for all parts to start lowering the car.
so until then, I'll drive around with it as it is.

This is Ruffus had him almost a month. Lots of stuff to do but the flat 8 runs great. I Replaced everything brake wise cleaned the sludge out of the pan flushed the cooling system and took him for a drive. This 52 is my second F-1 the other a 50 was my first driver in high school. MW

Here is my 1954 F-100, originally Glacier Blue, at one time gold, now gray primer.

She sports a '55 grill and "custom cab" emblems on the doors although I don't think that CC came until '55. She does have the "deluxe cab" options like arm rests, 2 sun visors and a key-lock glove box. Some PO "upgraded" the seat to 1980's Chrysler buckets in maroon velour mounted to a 2x4 stud seat frame.

The good part is that it is a rust free (although not ding/dent free) Oklahoma truck. When I got the truck it was powered by a Ford 390/C6 with a 9" axle with 3.50 gears. The installation was somewhat crudely done using an early Galaxie cross member/motor mount and some flame cutting to anything that got in the way. She ran strong but had low oil pressure. When I opened the engine I found every bearing showing copper.

Because the PO didn't know what engine was in it (he was told that it was a 406) I checked the casting numbers and ID tags on everything. It turned out to be a mutt. The short block, intake manifold, carb and trans were from a 1966 T-bird, the heads were 1961 390, cam from a 427 (hydraulic-auto trans) and shorty iron exhaust manifolds from a HiPo 390 or 406. The 9" appears to be from a early 60's car (4.5 bc). The '54 has been parked in the back of the garage for nearly 20 years quietly waiting for the day that I have the time to spare. I am retired now and still don't have the time!

Here's my latest "turn-key project". Yes, that does seem somewhat of an oxymoron, but it's the truth. She seems to have named herself "Thelma" and is determined to stay with me in spite of my best efforts to sever our relationship before she gets under my skin.



She's a transplanted California girl turned Texas redneck with a smooth-running 292 with cast iron exhaust manifolds, old-school "trombone" pipe duals and sweet burbleing glasspacks. Tranny is the old familiar three-on-the-tree. The running gear is all stock...with a few leaves removed from the spring packs to lower her a bit...oh, and front wheel disc brakes.

The blue is a stock '55 pickup color and the body is pretty much as Henry made 'er. I've got a list of upgrades as long as your arm to make as time goes on - none of which will show in the slightest but all of which are necessary to smooth out the rough spots brought on by time and neglect.

First on the list is a Nostalgia Sid's 3" dropped axle and some de-arched springs. Then a 9" diff with highway gears and a set of front and rear anti-sway bars and gas-filled shocks. No clips, no a/c, no megawatt stereo, no high buck "look-at-me!" paint and no air-adjustable "falsies", Thelma is staying traditional and H.A.M.B friendly all the way. A gal after my own heart.

So, if you spot Thelma and me at DFW area swap meets, cruise-ins and stuff, be sure to give her a friendly pat on the butt. She likes that.

Just completed Tbird IRS install in my 53 F100. Anxious to finish up small details and drive it.
