My dvd came in the mail today.
Got the per-registration done, got the discounted pass for the ms, got the motel room reserved. I see the DVD is no longer part of the preregistration package, that's too bad. All I need now is to be able to renew the plates on the coupe by the end of the month, and I'm ready for the show.

I'm in hope that winter is finally giving up, and business will pick up a bit because of warmer weather.

We are trying to cut costs across the board.
This is a show designed to help out kids that have heart problems.
We have spent a LOT (and I mean way over 6 figures here) on the shows.....
we have only been able to give $5K to a family in need. Something is wrong here. We need to make this a worthwhile endeavor for all involved. Please remember that the gate proceeds go to pay for the show first, and then, if funds are left over, we are able to donate to a family. Part of the cutting costs will be NOT spending $1500 on mailing DVDs out to people. This does NOT include the cost of making the dvd, packaging, artwork, sending out the dvds. Sorry we are charging for the DVD for 2014, but we have to cut costs and this one was a big cost.

this is one of the best entertainment values in the old car hobby. Maybe it is time to increase the cost of admission? It is all for a great cause.

Agreed...adding ten bucks would not be out of line, and could go a long way.

This is a great event and I've had a blast every time I attend. Even last year with the rain. I will be there again this year for sure.

Thanks for putting on a great show.

We have talked about that as I am with you on that. On the other side, I have worked the gate at every Torquefest and every Iron Invasion, you would not believe how people bitch, even turn around and leave, at the price that is charged now. Unfortunately there is a fundamental shift in that a large portion of our population thinks that everything just happens and we should feel blessed that they humble themselves with their presence, let alone make them pay for something. They would sooner go get a couple fancy micro brews that lasts a few minutes for the same money as they would pay for a weekend of entertainment and comraderie. I will step off of my soapbox now. Sorry for the rant.

My first time was last year, had a blast ,even with the rain. One heck of a bargain for the money! I have preregistered and by the way, do we get something in the mail to show that you have preregister for this year? or do they know when you drive in?? Just wondering. Keep up thet great work John, can't wait to get there.

  15. I have never worked a gate but have heard plenty of stories its a tough job I commend you and all that volunteer.
Think people have lost what this is all about. Helping others !
I gotta say I drive 19 hours and I do it cause its for friends and charity , and to ride my minibike too.
its weird to think people actually turn around and leave cause of a gate price for a weekend of fun, cars babes and beer.
    And minibikes
    Just my 2 cents!
    Well see you all soon!

Thanks for the support. For the most part people on this board get what we are doing and understand what is up..... But there are a lot of people who come to the show and just want to party on the cheap. That is cool, but you if that is ALL you want to do, perhaps stay at home in your garage. Oh but wait - you Want to see the bands, swap meet, art show, mini bike action, slot cars, circus sideshow act, vendors, cars, racing, motorcycles, pinup contest, and take your own car out on the track........ Sorry - that wont be possible in your garage. you have to come out to the event and be a participant. And yes - this stuff costs money.... a lot of it. Our self interest is that we do the art auction - without that we would simply not be able to pay all our health care that we need for our daughter. So we thank all those that bid on art, & we thank all those that take the time to contribute art. It goes for a specific purpose and we need the help of the hot rod community. Not sure how long we can continue the show the way it is now, but we hope everyone will come out and enjoy this year - rain or shine or snow. It is my hope that more and more people will understand the true meaning behind this show - we want to help others who have children suffering from heart problems. So if you are around someone who is complaining about the show - please ask them to name another fund raiser that gives so much back to YOU. We are determined to have a must attend show in the upper Midwest.... but we need your help - tell everyone that you think may come. Tell them it is a great time and a great cause. Ok - my rant is over as well.........

I agree that you should raise admission to help meet your goal. In my experience the people crying about the admission are the ones causing issues and jacking with other people's stuff. They're better off not there. Imo I'd gladly miss a fat kid sandwich to pay an extra $5 to help this little girl. It's the least I can do.

My phone countdown says 21.(175 till Iron Invasion)..I have yet to find a way to speed up this process.
Hoping to find some good stuff in the swap meet so I can, possibly, maybe get the 53 up and running before Iron Invasion....pipe dreams.

But seriously...is it time yet...im ready.

Just pulled the VTF 13 dvd out of the mailbox. Now I have the tough decision of watching it or going to the garage to get ready for 14.

I'm hoping I don't have to drive in a sleet storm this year to get to the show.......... but I will if I have to. :D
