Really like your build and your post with all the threads. I am thinking I will cut my donor top at the mid reveal and weld it there. I think I can get by with less warping and easier body work. You are definitely not afraid to tackle a job. Wish you lived close I would love to see your car.

Hey man I appreciate it! I was about to start wondering if anyone was reading this anymore! Shoot man.... I just figured it couldn't look any worse than it did! And it is metal, so if it doesn't work out, cut it off and try again. Hood luck with your build!

Hey guys, I made a youtube account and loaded the first start up video.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-BRNVbTMxI&feature=youtu.be

It took about 9 tries to get her fired off, but it sure was exciting when she did!!! It was crazy loud though with the cut off gl*** packs. Over the weekend I put a set of those auger mufflers in, and they may be a little quieter, but still not something you would want to spend a lot of time in.

A couple of buddies that race durt track came over and helped me set the timing and dial in the carb. Now I need to get a ***le, plates, and light and we should be cruzin!

I got those auger mufflers for my T bucket, but I haven't started it yet. I was curious how much quieter they were compared to the gl***packs and if the tone sounded cleaner/more agressive than the typical muddy gl***pack sound. Love the coupe by the way. Found this thread the other day and read beginning to current. Keep up the good work!

If I can I'll try to get a video before I pull the auger mufflers out. Growing up we had a T-bucket with the standard right abngle style headers and the slip on mufflers. It sounded real good, and maybe it was because it wasn't a closed car. But shoot the augers are pretty darn loud. We didn't idel it much since we were breaking in the cam, but cruzin at 2.5k RPM, I think it will be pretty loud!

Thanks for the input. If you have time to do a video that would be really awesome; if not, no big deal.

Update! This is Levi, he was about 6 weeks early and I was actually in Florida visiting my Dad when he decided to make an appearance. But $750.00 one way ticket, a whole bunch of prayers and I made it back with about 45 min. to spare! He spent about 10 days in the NIcu. But is doing awesome. Thanks be to God.

I finally got around to changing the break in oil out of my motor and I found a lot more metal than I was hoping for. I Called Summit and they said it was a GM issues an the local dealer said it was a Summit issue. Anyway, they both said change the oil and filter and run it. So I did / am. We will see!

Took her out for her first drive last weekend.... made it to the bottom of the hill. Was backfiring like crazy! If you look close enough, you can see the rope hooked to my neighbor's 4 wheeler as they pulled me back up the hill. I guess the neighbor though I was shooting or something. Turns out I when I was shortening / rearranging the sparkplug wires I mixed up the 3 and the 5. Hopefully that is it... haven't had a chance to try it out again.

Congratulations....I wouldn't push that motor too far. It sounds to me like the just want you to run it till it's out of warranty!

Updates!!! I got her fired up again, but still running like ****. Pulled the carb off and fuel filter and cleaned them both out. There was a lot of trash from the lines and tank. But after cleaning them up, she was running sweet! Super crisp throttle. Took the wife and even here grandma for a ride. She said I had to give her a ride in it before she died. I told her I was scared to give her a ride..... didn't want her to die now that she had a ride. [she is still kickin) My rear suspension was bottoming out and my rear body mounts started bending, so I pulled to wheels off and added some beefier mounts, and also added some more body blocks fwd of this mount.

I bought some black hubcaps from walmart to see what black rims would look like. I don't think anything is cooler than old school cragars though!

Nix the black on the wheels (JMO). Congrats getting the car drivable, been quite a journey.
I think the rear should be raised a couple inches... would also help with the bottoming issues.

You guys were right, I was just thinking about getting some new rims since a couple of mine have a pretty good chuck of lead on them. But I went ahead and bought some new tires for the cragars. I wanted some wide whites, but at $130 a piece, it wasn't in the budget. I got these from walmart for $54 and $64 a piece. small2.jpg
