This thread is slowing down. I have the memories but unfortunately not the photos. Please don't tell that it has run it's course.

Those don't look like 86's to me, but I cant ID them.

And the others are probably 102's if this is 1961.

The jets in the foreground are F-86D Sabres from the Air National Guard at Ontario Airport, the 196th FIS, later FIG. The 196th operated the D Sabre from about 1960 until 1965 when they switched to F-102s. The F-106s in the background are from the 456th FIS at Castle AFB, which received its Darts in 1959 and kept them until 1968 when the unit moved to Oxnard and became the 437th FIS, still in the 106. The scene here likely depicts a gathering of Fighter Interceptor Squadrons (at least two different squadrons) at Oxnard, possible for a competition of some kind. 1961 was an educated guess on my part. It could be anywhere from 1960 to 1965.

OK, I'm going to give this a shot. I've collected vintage photography for years, and have over 100,000 old gas station photos. The best 2,100 were collected into a hard book back book "One Hundred Years of Gas Stations" that was released last year (373 brands, all 50 states). I'd been watching in the background and noticed things slowing a little, as well. Thought I'd post an occasional photo or two. This photo shows a small station on S. Jefferson Street in Roanoke, VA, as it appeared in 1948. It came to me some 15 years ago in a group of six Crown photos that we eventually identified as five in Roanoke and one in Richmond. I collect Crown Central items, and thought I'd start out with one of my favorite old pictures.

I just figured it was because the weather has turned decent and people are outside instead of on their computer........ or not.
