    Hello All,
I'm new hear and have run into an issue with a Chassis Engineering rear end mounting kit for my 40 ford pickup. Directions that came with the setup seem pretty straightforward. The problem is that I am using a 68 Bronco 9" rear end (same bolt pattern, correct width for my application). It is not mentioned in the instructions as to where the spring perches need to be welded on the axle. It seems like I have seen a schematic for the width, but I don't know where. Any assistance is appreciated. jmelcock

Sound like you need to install the spring, get the housing in place measured for square, front to back and side to side and that should be where the pads need to be welded on.

ok. That sounds much more simple than I thought. Sometimes I tend to over complicate. Thanks for the help.

And be sure to check your driveline angle before welding.

Bolt everything together with the spring pads unwelded so you can move them around a bit. Set the rear exactly where you want it including pinion angle, tack weld, remove and final weld.

I will add that be sure to have the weight of the car on the springs as the pinion angle shifts upward with the weight on the springs. You could add shims but if you do it right you won't need to. You will find that on a 40 chassis the spring pads normally are about 43" on centerlines or close to that. Sometimes you may need to adjust for one side or the other as the fenders, bed etc. may not be the same on each side. Mock everything up tack only and take a good look at both sides prior to fully welding. Good luck.
