Features Who's Building a T?

I'm going to be building a fiberglass 23" t bucket with 90" wheelbase, ford 2.3, c3 auto trans, 7.5 rear painted kirker hot rod black. Working on the rolling chassis this summer hope to have it finished in a few years. It will be similar to Barn-core 23 t bucket but with my twist.

 

building a touring for my family . started with junk

 

my father has had t's for 50 years now and has just given me his as he no longer drive's
26 touring car , 60hp 3 speed 40 front and rear end
26 roadster pu 60hp 3 speed 40 frnr and rear end
26 roadster all original T model a crank and balanced
have the touring car home now looking to build a new frame
and reuse all the driveline , Just want to get it lower

If anyone could help, I'd like to know the inside height and width of the later year Model T grille shell openings - like the one below. I assume they are rectangular, but if they aren't, could you please help with a few more dimensions to help further define the opening? Thanx, Gary

Wow! What a nice looking Speedster. I have a 26-27 shell I can measure but I don't have the lower apron, So botton of the Ford Script top face to the bottom of the side were it meets the frame is 16 1/4, inside width is 18 7/8. Bob

Here's the touring I picked up this weekend. It is solid, maybe an hour or two in patching. Best $200 I've ever spent.
Between that frame and my other $20 one in front there, I should be able to double the rear crossmember and z it.

Going to pull the back half off and do a modified style build. I also picked up '46 front and rear axle with new brakes, friction shocks and a bunch of other goodies from a friend who went Sbc, 8.8, disc brake front. Best part was since it wasn't "hotrod" material, I got it all for free!

If you're talking about the shocks in the pic they aren't friction shocks...they are original Houdaille hydraulic shocks. If they still work and aren't leaking they are a good shock to use for sure!
Awesome score you made there on EVERYTHING!

 

I am fairly unfamiliar with most of the pre '50's stuff. They are hydraulic, and all 4 are in good working order. Still need to figure out what I'm going to do about front wishbones and spring. From what I've read, the '46 is about 3" wider perch to perch than an A axle, but I guess if I'm going to split them it doesn't matter.

Another Mr Model T clone

 

Sure looks like a copy of Clayton's car.

 

Got my interior installed the other day. My upholstery guy still needs to do the kick panels but it's coming along pretty good.

 

That chrome trim is the side chrome from a 40 Dodge coupe.

 

My "faux banger" lakes modified finally sees the light of day.

 

I am building a '26 coupe. It's getting real close. I love the tall full fendered look. This is also the first time the car has seen the light of day. As you can see I don't have the doors on yet. I am waiting for glass and new door guts. Can anyone tell me if there is a weatherstrip on the outside of the window glass at the bottom of the window between the glass and the door? The doors were fully assembled with glass and working when I got the car, but it's been over a year since i took it apart. Thanks.

I'm glad I found this thread. I just paid a deposit on a 27 Coupe to add to my collection of COOPS.....license plates as follows: '33 Plymouth w/ 392 hemi...33 COOP; '40 Ford w/ 291 DeSoto hemi...40 COOP; '53 Studebaker w/ stock drivetrain but soon to be 354 hemi...53 COOP. You get the drift...all coupes and I needed one from the 20's. It has already been channeled but will be chopped and have a 331 hemi.

Too many projects, not enough time!
