This old girl got brought up over a dinner conversation and I could not p*** on it. It is a true survivor, 95% original paint, 46k miles, everything works but the radio hums. I am the 3rd owner and she is solid, no rot in the floors anywhere. Manuals included and a picture of the car with the original owner. Drives very nice. Don't know what I am going to do to it (if anything) but could not p*** it up. 41's are kinda cute if you look at them long enough.

You seldom see an original that nice anymore. I don't think I would have p***ed it up either.

  8. I had a coupe back in 64 that had 3/4 race 53 Merc in it and a stiff new front spring , looked like a g***er. Was fun to drive.
The radio worked fine, had a floor ****on for changing the stations. I hope you have a lotta fun with this one.

Nice find, and a car that isn't crying out to be heavily modified.

The later fords (41 to 48) were fords zenith for transverse sprung design. They are as good as it gets. It'll make a great driver. You can always fit parts from the later cars if you want to improve stuff, I'm thinking tube shocks and panhard rods if it doesn't already have them.

What a find ! For anyone interested, there is a '41 2DR sitting out by the gate at a farmhouse on Hwy 173 between Hondo and Devine. Looks just like the one in the photos above.

That surely is a nice car. And I agree-you do have to look at them a long time. Just drive the wheels off of that one.

I wouldn't change a thing. You could rent that out to film producers. You can earn a lot of money that way. Also weddings can bring in some cash.
If that were mine I'd be looking for period extras, like screen washers, heater, Columbia etc.
41-48 were Ford's best car ever.
I know someone im WI had a parts car with a complete Columbia in it. May still have it, I could ask.

You can spend loads building a hot Merc flathead for it only using original 40s hop up parts. That would be fun! Edmunds and Navaro parts, twin 97s etc. Police spec exhaust. If you get a Columbia from a post war you could fit Panhard bars too. Make it like it's a whiskey runner! Hot but stock;-)

I plan on keeping it stock, maybe some flathead goodies but that's it.

I had a 40 Mercury 4dr. After I got it roadworthy, I carried a spare waterpump for each side and a spare belt and drove it. The best thing for them. Enjoy!

After looking at it tonight, the bumper guards are on correct. What a nice driver compared to my 29 coupe.
