shoebox lowering & disc brake swap

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by sko_ford, Dec 4, 2005.

  1. So i'm half way threw the upright flip, spring cup drop, & disc brake (eci camaro) converstion. and so far other than one german kingpin with a corasponding mared bushing all is going well. but i had a question on the up right flip. after it is fliped the concentric adjuster is on the bottom insted of the top is there going to be an alignment issue with that or is that why the top a arms holes need to be oblonged?

and has any one used the eci underfloor m/c adapter the lets you put a modern dual m/c in the stock postion and use the factory pedle assambly?

    thanks sko

and woo hoo a hunert posts

Any tips on the ECI install? I've got it but haven't put it in yet...I'm using a firewall-mounted S10 pedal + MC.

  3. it was fairly straight forward other than the grindiing that they noted on the instructions for the bracket i also had to grind on the steariong arm bolt boss so it would fit in the cup of the bracket.

My '51 uses a Dual mc in the stock position. I bought it that way, though. I can't say for sure, but it looks to me like the bracket was garage-built. I may be able to snap a few photos of it for you, so that you can see how its set up.

To be honest, I HATE having the MC in that location. It's nearly impossible to fill w/o a lift or cutting a hole in the floor. Plus, its at risk of being hit by speed bumps, etc. Esp. of you plan on bagging the car or having it sit real low. Also, I am not to fond of the geometry on the stock pedal. I prefer a hanging pedal and will probably swap it out to a firewall-mounted set up.

I'd like to do the spindle swap/flip. But, I haven't been able to find a post on here or any other techs on that set-up. Did you have any specific instructions? I'm a novice, so I need all the help I can get.
