Gauges and Panels

Beautiful panel that usually is reserved for boats but clearly this was intended for a car. The seller (it was on eBay briefly before the auction was pulled) claimed the previous owner had pulled it out of a low mileage 1933 Packard hearse. This seems to fit the story as many specialty vehicles were sent out to coach builders with not much more then a rolling chassis and a front end. So adding a handsome aftermarket panel would be a perfect solution for a hand built hearse. It appears to have the crushed ice insert but unfortunately painted over with the drab brown.

I've said it before on here but I love the 2" smooth bezel gauges. I think they look fabulous in the SW panels especially this one with the "pinstripe" insert.

Here's the car that got me hooked on gauges. The Donelan roadster...an influential car in NW traditional car culture. What more can I say? Auburn panel with an exceedingly rare gas/oil gauge. Not necessarily desirable gauge but definitely uncommon.

Ok, I'm back on fuel pressure gauges...it's almost a fetish at this point. Regardless this one caught my eye for its earlier style script with a "coffin" style needle.
