We machined a piece of bar stock to extend the top tube of the tailgate, the new piece is welded to the bed, it makes a very clean application, we also used a spring loaded pin in the top tube of the tailgate to latch the tailgate in the up position, the pin goes into the new welded piece of bar stock that was welded to the bed.
