Heard a '48 Plymouth with the manifold split when I was about 7 or 8 and was hooked ... USN '64-'67, then worked as line mechanic on American cars & trucks for 5 years, a year at a machine shop, and to another (independent) shop for 21 years. Been selling old car parts since.
