My first car was a 1939 Ford deluxe coupe. I added a semi-hot 327, dropped axle, custom dash, F100 brakes, and new paint and upholstery. I sold it in 1974, and forgot about rods until I bought a rusting '28 Ford roadster pickup in 2000. I'm building it, as time allows, in early '50's style: highboy, Halibrand, stock '39 Merc flatmotor and transmission, steels, 4" drop, big and littles, etc. I want it to look authentic, but with excellent craftsmanship. It will be a rat rod that's not ratty. In my real life, I design water-quality instruments.
