Built my first Hot Rod in 1953, all wood, Briggs & Stratton cement mixer engine, PF Keds brakes, closet rod and rope steering, flamed orange crate body. 1957, first car, '50 Chevy hard top. I installed a 283 in '58. Raced C gas Aquasco '58 til closing. Capitol Raceway & Budds Creek day they first opened. Paid $100 for a '55 Bel Air hardtop and drove it home from Clinton Ford then built a killer 301, 4 speed, 4.11 posi, Atlas bucron tires = mega street racing around DC, Maryland, Virginia. Rosina was the Count-down Queen ! Created the "Sluggs" Car Club in 1957.
Had hot rod garage "Chevy Specialties" on Capitol Hill, Washington DC 1957 until robbed in 1963. Street Raced a killer '55 Chev hardtop '59 to '63. Track only '57 post, Rochester injected D stock. Then new '67 Camaro SSRS, Super Stock. Quit drags in '69 when bracket crap came in. November 2012 went to Budds Creek "Legends" for first time in 43 years. Our "Street Rod Works" merged with "The Hot Rod Garage" a few years ago.
Still cruizin', still 16 everyday we look at or cruize in our Hot Rods today !! We do about 32 rod runs, cruize nites, & car shows annually.
