Good looking 2dr. For some reason, 1954 Oldses are scarce; not a lot seem to have survived.
You mentioned that you'd be using Diamondbacks. I've had excellent results with that brand; far superior to Coker's.
2" looks like late '50s to me, and I think is preferable to the 4" whitewalls which look earlier.
I'm 83. Joined the HAMB in 2001. I have more than 10.000 posts on this board, but can't think of a single interesting story.
If I had my '36 3W back, I'd have it just as it was when I sold it several years ago: low rake, whitewalls, no skirts. Just like the last picture...

Pretty sure that the Merc's extra wheelbase is all in the front clip. The Ford fenders and hood would be too short for the Merc by 2.5".
