!958 purchased my first 28 Model A sedan. It had been turned into a jalopy race car and Springfield, Missouri had just gone to late models 2 yrs earlier. It was set up for a flathead and was sans fenders. Body was caneled just to the bottom of the frame and a roll bar added. There were many of these cars around the area at that time as no one wanted them (stock car boys). My 2nd car was a 46 Ford 4 door that I took all the parts needed to get the A on the road. Had to use a 1955 Chevy radiator to get it inside the radiator shell. Back then $15.00 would get the outlets changed. I worked at a local Standard Oil Service station for.50 cents an hour. Stuff from Honest Charley and Almquest was cheap then and so was REA Express shipping! After a young kid starts getting some attention driving a hot rod around town at 14 it becomes a snowball effect! Then someone tows my car to the drag races, enters it, drives it, and I get a trophy. 3 years playing football, 3rd string only receiving a gold ball pin and 2 bars!!! I think you can figure it out from there. Now I'm old with a bunch of old iron and plenty of tallent. Damn this economy!!
