I grew up with a buddy that him and his dad have a rod shop. I started hangin out there after high school and got into custom cars. I was not introduced into the rat rod culture until about a year ago when a couple of buddies of mine invited me to the Lonestar Roundup in Austin Texas. It blew my mind. I had never seen so many cars tell such great stories by just looking at them. Before that I was into all the custom stuff with the cadillac pearl paint jobs and the loud stereos with the biggest rims you could put on it. But I love the simplisity of the cars in the rat rod scene. You can be yourself with your car and yeah it may look like shit to some people but they still respect it.
