Got discharged from the service back in '73 and wanted a project car. Had a few after that, including two '53 Mercs but held on to the '39 Ford Deluxe Tudor for 37 years now.Bought it for $250.00 and it still is in the garage. It is mostly stock. I was a BT trained by the Navy and worked in the boiler room, got a job later in a hospital power plant nearby.I became a Licensed Professional Engineer after getting my degree and I am doing professional work. I am retired from the plant job, but steam engineering is where I started, thus the name "Boilerhouse Pete" I became interested in Earl Bruce after reading about him and his 1940 coupe. I actually went to the 1960 custom car show in the old New York Colloseum. I saw George Barris cars there, Bobby Vinton's "Dream car", the old Orange Crate,(Buz Pitzen) and Big Daddy Ed Roth's space ship cars. Hot rods are interesting, and so are the pictures of them. My garage is a two story two car barn not updated since 1939, houses the 39 Ford, and that includes the date scrawled on the concrete slab. One side is my shop for restoring and maintaining the car. The ads and notices on the walls do not go past the year 1940 and show the imagination we used during those days for advertisement. My tools date to the twenties, some with Ford script. I believe car enthusiasts should keep up the spirit forever, and they will stay happy, never let go of the youthful ideas and dreams of fixing up that special car, and having all the right tools to do it. Keep that car for the times you can enjoy it, and rescue other cars if you can. Old cars are old friends, always good to see them.Interact
