I went to my first drag race when I was 16, at the grand opening of the Houston Drag Raceway (the original name of that track). I inherited a bunch of money in 1966, and went top fuel racing for a few years with a pair of cars that were driven by the late Al "The Jersey Jew" Friedman and Bub Reese. I was also the head starter at Aquasco Speedway for two seasons, and the "stock side" starter at York US30 in 1960. From '62 through '65 I did the announcing at the drags at Sanford, Maine. These days I'm the track photographer at Maui Raceway Park.
