I was raised in Bakersfield Ca, My father had a Body shop, Shorty's Custom Body and Fender in Olidale, Ca.
When I was 16 he had two old chevy's a 49 and 50, he took the best parts from each one and gave me the best one, he liked to call it my 49/50 Chevy. I have never forgotten that old car, I had some wonderful times in it, I left Calif when I was 17 and never saw the car again, decades passed and always in the back of my mind was that old Chevy, 16 years ago my grandson was born, my only grandson, two days later I found a 1950 Chevy and bought it with the intention of one day restoring it for my grandson, several years later I found another on in Centerville Iowa and bought it as well, for the last two summers my grandson and I have been working on these two old Chevy's trying to get one of them completed for his 16th birthday, It has been a truly enjoyable expierence for the both of us, I hope he will make wonderful memories in his old Chevy just as I did in mine and hopefully he will keep his to pass on down.
