Became aware of hot rods/cars in the early 60"s. Those were the days if you wanted a hot car you had to build it. Even after the muscle car thing started, it seemed to me that a real hot rod was one that you built. I got the bug way back then in Jr. High school and have it to this day. My philosophy is: if you have enough vehicles something is bound to start.
