Born into hot rod by my father and grandpa, Chad Schultz, builder and owner of California Metal Shaping. My dad Ken Hausman worked their from 1953 until about 1967. Fired by Bill Honda the new owner of CMS. Ken went to work for Shelby working on Cobra's, Daytona Coupe's, mustangs and the GT40. Then to Holman/Moody and stropp. Nascar fame and the" big buck boy from california", trained the pit crew to quickly move damaged body work to keep car in competition.
Chad built the CMS company I don't know when but did many Mikey thompson land speed cars, Thompson still Owes payment of $25k from 1960's body bills.
Built many indy car bodies, 16 of the 33 cars that qualified in 1963 were CMS built, don't know how many didn't qulaify. ??? Dan Gurney Eagles
Yes they built the monorail for Disney prior to 1959 when they opened and returned to CMS/Honda for the second mono for Disney World in about 1975???? just front and rear nosecones, the rest were straight panels.
I was raised in the shop , born in 1952 and waddled around the shop from 1955 to the selling of the shop in 1966, When grandpa retired. I visited in about 1980 and Red was still there.
The employees were Big RED, my Dad ,ken hausman, the wood template builter, Bill Kechem, Leo Berger, Stanley Taylor foreman and other's I will get from my mom and return to give their names. I'm 57 now and was searching. Ken
