    1950 Ford Custom
I'm a native San Josean; I graduated from Santa Clara Hi. in 1955. Had a 1950 Ford Crestliner my senior year. In 1956 I lowered it, customized the body and re-did the inside and painted it a 56 Chevy Light Blue and White. Sure wished I had some pictures of it. My kids gave me a 1950 Ford Tudor Custom a couple of months ago, been working on it a little. I'll redo the inside, but I'll keep the out side stock. I'll leave the flathead V8 in it. Runs fine but it's seen it's time and needs to be rebuilt. How did I get involved in Hot Rods? My Dad always supped up his cars from the Model A that I can remember to his 1953 Ford, even my son has fixed up his 1967 Fastback Mustang. So I guessed it just got passed down. I saw my first Stock Car race in 1947 or 1948 at the Livermore Airport. It was a Ford Coupe that won it. From about 1948 I was a big fan of Midget Racing (BCRA), Wed. night was at Belmont Speedway, Thur. night San Jose Speedway, Fri. night Bayshore Speedway, South San Francisco, (next door to the Cow Palace), Sat. Night Contra Costa Speedway, Sun. Oakland Speedway. Then the hard tops came along in the 50's, and killed the midgets, in this area. Saw a lot of Drag Races at the old San Jose Airport on King Road. (Little Bonneville)
